I'm having a real tough time coming up with our best first eleven when all are fit.

I'd be interested to know where fellow Spurs Community posters stand on this.

The team is looking unbelievably good this year and Pochettino has some tough decisions ahead.

I expect that there'll be some winners and some losers - but who will these be?

Here's my pick for the best eleven:

Goal: Lloris
Left back: Rose
Right back: Walker
Centre backs: Alderweireld, Vertonghen
Centre midfielders: Dier, Dembele
Left midfield/attacker: Eriksen
Right midfield/attacker: Son
Attacking midfielder: Alli
Centre forward: Kane

Some decent talent has had to be left out. (And of course Dembele and Alli could switch spots).

I think most will agree with the defence shown. It's up front that the selection problems really start.

Surely Lamela deserves to keep his place in the team? But if he makes it then who doesn't?

Is Eriksen's place under threat?

What happens to Chadli when he comes back from injury?

How about Mason and Bentaleb?

Lots of questions.

Would be interesting to hear the views of fellow Spurs' fans.

Based on the team you put out and which I agree with, injuries, rotation, fatigue etc will all play their part and provide opportunities for others to fill their spot. At the beginning of this season we were begging for a CDM however Dier rose to the challenge and IMHO that position is now his. Be interesting to see how Mauricio keeps players like Dembele, Bentaleb and Mason all happy, although undoubtedly certain games require certain skill sets according to the team we're about to face at that particular moment, so perhaps it won't be that difficult after all.
In the case of Chadli I believe he'll have a real fight on his hands to get back into the starting XI.

Dropping our most influential player in the last few games? And our most influential player before he got injured?

Opinion I know, but saying it is 'easy' is incorrect.

We have lots of possibilities but I think Son is not a starter yet. He hit the ground running but I see a lot of indecision creeping into his game. He needs time so for me Lamela, Eriksen, Dembele and Ali are ahead of him in the queue to be an AM. What happens when Chadli returns? I think Son is probably already better than Nacer.
The rest of the XI is a given.

Easy.

Best XI, does not mean the others are "bad" just means they are not in the best XI - so yes, Alli is ahead of Dembele, Mason and Bentaleb - but isn't it great to have good options?

It's funny a year ago Bentaleb and Mason were the big guns dominating the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal, now they aren't even our best two CM's. That shows our squad has improved again

I think we're seeing the Creedence Dembele Revival this season - It's the Midnight Special all over!

For me Dembele has to start at the moment.

He needs to keep up this form to stay in due to the competition...but as things stand, he's got to start.

I think he's far more effective in a more attacking position, with Alli and Dier behind. Dembele is fantastic when he's got the ball in tight spaces in opposition territory. He's brilliant at holding the ball and shaking players off. When he's further back with time and space he's prone to sloppiness, and his attributes are wasted.

I blame Levy

It looks as if it's finally coming together. Usually we talk about all the players the Club should bring in during the January window - but at the moment I'd be reasonably happy with a Kane alternative as the guy probably needs a break now and then.

Otherwise we're looking very, very good.

Give credit where credit is due - and Levy earns that in spades.

I think we're a much better team with Mason in it.

Lloris

Walker
Alderweireld
Vertonghen
Rose

Dier
Mason

Lamela
Alli
Eriksen

Kane

On current form Dembele is a glaring miss.

Alli justs gets better with games. Mason imo is vastly underrated he's quality.

There isn't one. It depends on form, certain positions there is a lot of competition for places.

Spot on.

It completely depends on the opposition.

Against a weaker team, we could get perhaps get away with Alli in a two man midfield a bit more, whereas against a strong midfield you'd want the effective midfield 3 of Dier/Mason/Alli.

Against teams who will sit deep we are more likely to need Lamela's artistry, but where we intend to sit back, having Son's directness and pace could really help.

It's horses for courses, and we should just be happy that we currently have such an exciting range of horses to work with.

He also draws players in and creates space because they know that one player isn't going to get the ball off him.

Might be exactly what he needs.
