Something a bit different to take our mind off all the CL nerves.

Was discussing with some friends about the best player they've seen live from their clubs.

Names I would include in the list personally would be:
Mabbut-Committed, heart on his sleeve, and playing with an illness was a great player.
Linker- Knew how to score goals
Gazza- Magical, dribbling, skills, passing-such a talent and that goal vs Arsenal-wow.
Klinsmann- Such a brilliant striker, so powerful.
Anderton- Very under-rated, always injured but when he was on form he was a great player.
Sheringham- Again quite under-rated by people, his vision was incredible in that n.o10 role, and scored a lot of goals.
Carr- For a few years around 1999/2001 he was some full-back, then he became a twat.
King- The King of WHL, has put in defensive displays I don't think I'll see again at times.
Ginola- Magical, magestic, dribbling, pace, power, incredible goals and hair.
R.Keane- Scored some very good goals for us on a regular basis...KEANEO.
Defoe- See above, both have given the club great service over the years.
Berbatov- Such a magical player, amazing touch, skill and was like watching someone in slow motion, such a good player.
Modric- Great little midfielder, passing and movement brilliant.
*Van Der Vaart- In a way signing him changed our club, he was a world class player playing at Real Madrid and he came to our club, it showed how far we had come. Great player and great man, loves Spurs as well.
Bale- Got some years to go yet but has put in two seasons of the highest order, carrys on like this(and stay with us) and he will provide some more great memories and help us win some trophies I'm sure.

Out of those I would say the top3 are:
1.Berbatov- The years he played for us were a joy to watch, he did things I'd never seen before and always looked so classy, will always remember when he scored a bucket-load against Reading in that epic match, incredible player.
2.King- When on form he has put in some defensive displays that are rarely matched by any world class defender.
3.Ginola(closely followed by Gazza)- Dribbled, entertained, pace, power, some incredible goals and dragged along a very average team for a number of years.

SO these are my choices of the best players I've been lucky enough to have seen.

What do you guys think?

Modric/Berbatov/King.

Can't split them really, all equally brilliant in their respective positions.

Well I saw Gazza play for England a few times (including his famous goal against Scotland at Euro '96), but never for Spurs.

I'd probably say Berbatov, King and VDV.

Modric/berbatov/king/ginola

Each one a different position but each one imo the best player i have ever seen in there position also....

I feel humbled to have seen these players in their prime, truly mesmorizing...

It pains me some people who watch tottenham dont see how good luka is it really does, i mean someone has just said we could replace him with a swansea midfielder & it wouldnt make much difference in another thread!!!!!...when he does leave eventually he will play for one of the top teams in the world...genius :(

Ginola. Ive never known an expectation like it when he went anywhere near the ball. The man was born to play for Tottenham.

I never got to see Hoddle unfortunately, what kind of player these days is he similar to.
I know he's a different position but was he better than say Berbatov on his day was for us or Ginola?

Hoddle was alittle bit of all the great players you have on your list (unless they are tough tacklers or defenders)

I have bnever seen anyone place a ball on somebodies foot with a pass like Hoddle. be it 5 yards or 70 yards. amazing. i modelled myself on his style of football as a child. legend
