best spurs X1 still playing top flight football at other clubs

After playing 5 ex spurs players against Fulham in the cup, and potentially facing 5 ex spurs players against Sunderland on Saturday - it got me thinking about the best Spurs team made up of players we have sold that are still playing top flight football - and how well would that team do against our first team?

After some thought my personal team of ex spurs would be:

Bent - Berbatov

Ethrington - Carrick - Zokora - Malbranque

Ziegler - Gardner - Campbell - Chimbonda

Robinson

Subs:
Fulop, Kanoute, Zamora, Mendes, Reid, Atouba, Carr

Ziegler is currently first choice left back for Sampdoria.
But defence is clearly the area that this team would struggle

Can anyone think of a stronger line-up?
I am not counting players we have out on loan, or players like Konchesky that have played for us on loan...

Definately Y.P. Lee for ziegler

postiga, mido, brown, boeteng, muphy and Gunter are the only others i'd consider.

Would only want Carrick and Berbatov back out of that lot though, think we have our best squad in decades at the moment

At the time was guttered when Mendes left, but he wouldnt get near our first team now.

And thank f**k Zokora is gone, most over rated "work house/engine room" ever...

Would love to see Berbatov and Kanoute playing up front together though, just to see who would pull the most faces and throw strops at misplaced passes.

I dont hink YP Lee is playing top flight footy - last i heard he was in saudi arabia!

I am a massive Kanoute fan - but him alongside Berbatov seemed a bit unbalanced in the work rate / speed and goal poaching department...

was tempted to put in reid, davies in ahead of etherington - or ginger pele - saviour of norwich gary doc at centre half - for a laugh...

Gunter isn't playing top flight football, maybe next year and I'm not sure YP is either in Saudi Arabia.
I'd play Atouba at left back and Simon Davies over Etherington.

oh and 'el hamdoui' is doing very well at AZ Alkmaar - helping them win the dutch league i believe. But dont think he ever played for spurs - just the reserves and out on loan at derby...
is pamarot still at pompey?? he could make the bench over atouba who is struggling with Jol at Ajax!

What are you talking about? Zokora wasn't much rated, let alone overrated. I shall remember him fondly despite his obvious limitations.

Well the amount of arguments i had over who should play between huddlestone and zokora on this site last was ridiculous. Think i've been proven right  - ever since Redknapp finally dropped zokora early last year we've been awesome -FACT

But thank you boris, you have an idea of what a midfielder should do in a game of premier league football, not how great there "stamina" is, or that they a "true athlete" - the guy couldnt pass a f**ken ball - ANOTHER FACT

Mounir El Hamdoui! I'd forgotten about him! I remember in the Peace Cup he did this ridiculous piece of skill to send Keane straight through but was ruled out for offside, but it was up there with some of the best Berba skill...

Also, no need to slate Zokora - limited, yes but he put in a shift every time and he did a good job for us when we needed him out of position. He always played with pride in the shirt too.

Would love Malbranque back at the Lane, puts a shift in every week.Cant we do a deal involving Hutton?
Carr was a class act for a few years,so he would be in me first 11.

Interesting reading this. Thought I would be able to easily list about 500 players who could build a half decent team with the amount of players we release, but looking at that I would only have berba and carrick back and the money from their sales helped fund the signings of modric, palacios, bale and others so not that bad! Would probably put Teemu on the bench with the likelihood of sol going missing and zokora having to cover at CB.

Dalmat is a good shout - we did have him for a season... But didnt he punch one of the youth team players - was it lee barnard or dean marney?? And have a blazing row with club captain jamie redknapp? And as well as playing well attacking the first half - getting us to 3-0 against Man City in the fa cup - he then single handedly gave up and let us lose 4-3 !!

Just been reading about Mabulela Mabuzela the South African Orlando Pirate that Hoddle put in his suitcase when we played them on tour... He has a rather sad wiki entry - alcoholic... Apparently was sent home from training at spurs for being drunk! finally playing well again - and has a chance of making the South Africa world cup squad...

Luke young is a good shout - think I will play him right back and Chimbonda left back - just to annoy Chimbonda!!

I think Mabizela has just served a six month drug spell for marijuana, he'll do well to make the WC squad, it'd amuse me if he was there though.
