Bloody shocked that Bryan Robson is having treatment for cancer of the throat. A good player in his day, when he wasn't injured. Hope the treatment is successful for him.

Bit of an understatement. Longest serving club captain of Manchester United. Captain of England and considered by many as the best player in the country at his peak.

This is terrible. He played at the Masters in Malaysia only this weekend. Far older and less fit than any of the other players, but he insisted despite not making the original squad. Viv Anderson stood down and was the 'Social Director'.

I now feel pretty shit because at the Gala Dinner I took the piss out of him for his Thailand side losing to Malaysia in front of an audience of 500+ people. I then asked Robbie Fowler and Steve McManaman if they ever fucked any of the Spice Girls. I have a feeling I was a little inebriated. Although Regi Blinker liked it. He was giggling like mad and asking me if I was a stand-up comedian. Lovely man.

Back to Robbo and it's a shame we didn't know this beforehand so I couldn't be more sympathetic and offer well wishes but he has requested for some privacy. Hope he battles through it the way he used to battle through opposition midfielders.

"Pop" Robson played for, among other clubs, Sunderland and West Ham.

The England Bryan was iconic in the Manchester United and England teams, though was susceptible to injury.

He has the willpower to get through this and I wish him strength in his recovery.
