My bolton mate just text me saying that there's a rumour going around bolton fans that their team will forfeit the re-match at WHL!

But ofc the priority atm is Muamba and I hope with all my heart that he gets well soon, it was shocking to see.

That would avoid a potential embarrassment for us. Given the circumstances you'd think Bolton wouldn't want to have to play another game either.

I doubt very much they will and I think that it will make them even more up for it as they'll want to win it for Fabrice.

Nothing. Just think it would be the classy thing to do. Bolton have done nothing wrong either, yet they apparently are considering forfeiting the game.

Personally I think we should forfeit the game.

Why on earth do you think that?

No one will forfeit the game, FM loved the game of football, do you think he would want it cancelled on his account?

Bolton will play and they will play their hearts out to try and win it for him.

We certainly shouldn't be forfeiting the game that's for sure...

I think Bolton will play it and I hope so as well.

If they feel that they cannot come to WHL so soon afterwards then we should offer the forfeit. I wouldn't want to go through due to them forfeiting.

That would not be the right thing to do imo. FM is a Bolton player and the matter concerns Bolton, they should decide whether it is in their's/FM's interest to forfeit or to play the rematch. There is no reason that we should not be ready to play the rematch.

No one should forfeit....it's a horribly complicated situation and it needs to be treated with a lot of sensitivity but to suggest we pull out is absurd.

Us forfeiting is frankly ridiculous mate. Where does it end? Gift Bolton the trophy?

The game will be played. It will take place, as it should, at WHL.

Let's hope the lad pulls through obviously. Look at previous examples of such injuries. In some cases the actual game it happened in was finished!

It's tragic and I'm not taking anything away from the severity of it all but I do get the feeling today's overly dramatic society makes people come out with some strange things.

Fair enough. Just think we should offer if they don't feel they can play at the Lane. Whether they accept or not is another matter. We should do all we can to get the game on maybe at a neutral ground as someone said. But the FA cup will be tainted if we win following a Bolton forfeit IMO.

Are you making some sort of joke that is going over my head?

For what reason would we be forfeiting the game?

We were not at fault in any way for the incident, it is a sad scenario but on what grounds would we be offering to forfeit?

If they feel like they cannot play then it is up to them to forfeit, I hope they do not but if it is they who do not want to play then that will be their choice.

If you wanted to make a gesture of good will to them then surely it would be to offer to concede home advantage and arrange to play the game at a neutral venue.

The bottom line is in my opinion the game will go ahead, it would be somewhat disrespectful to FM not to play and if Bolton decide they simply cannot play the game then it will be they who forfeit not us.

Finally your suggestion that we should forfeit is one of the most perplexing, strange/stupid comments I have read on here for a very long time. Are you making some strange joke I don't get? or are you seriously suggesting we should do this?

I hope the game will be played. The clubs should make a big thing about playing it for Muamba, a nice arrangement in his honour, donate ticket fees to charity or something like that.

You mean make a good will gesture over something that transcends football? Fucking hilarious. I didn't say you had to agree. No need to be a condescending prick about it.
