After a preseason that was almost Disney (except for the loss of Keane); a trip up North is a great game to start reality with.

A good win up north and it sends a strong signal that Spurs mean business.

Lose and a few bubbles burst and reality bites us in the ass.

Draw and .....well who needs that we don't want to settle for that.... Man United wouldn't.

I'm predicting a cagey 1-1. This is based more on experience than pessimism.

But overall I'm reasonably optimistic re: 2008/09.

Indeed, we have a shit record there

The last 3 years there we have won once and drawn twice. The least we should expect is a draw.

Our home record against them in recent years is pretty bloody good too.

I think we can win up there, especially with the quality of our attacking players. A patient passing game to shut their fans up and no Luke Young to score a screamer this season.

Im going for 2-0 Spurs. We need to start winning games like Boro away. fulham away, Sunderland away, and hopefully, like the top 4, be expected to get the 3 points at games likr Everton and Villa. Anything can happen on the 1st day though, as we know too well, but I believe in Ramos so I'm quite confident for the match, although I'll still be incredibly nervous.

Total away games @ Boro:

P47 W 7 D13 L22 GF44 GA78

Not a happy hunting ground at all

Recent data, recent. No point looking at anything else. In actual fact even looking at our past record there with our current crop of first team players and management is going to be inaccurate.

Could have done with a nice home tie to start off with but Arsenal have first dibs on easy opening day fixtures.

winning is vital to show we are real top 4 contenders this season

a loss is unthinkable but i fear a draw is the best we will get

We need to keep the ball early on, as we have been doing in preseason. Frustrate the crowd and wear them down. If we do that we should get the result.

This is definitely a game which shows what stage we're at, at the moment.

I predict a 1-1 - and I think (and hope) Ramos will address the weaknesses from the game in the transfer market...

I think we'll win. If we give them a lot of the ball then they'll be dangerous with Downing and Alves the biggest threats, but I think we'll set out to have as much of the ball as we would if were at home. And without Young at the back I think they will be shaky in defence. 2-1 to Spurs. Nobody's saying it will be easy, but we'll win.

We should win really. To be honest, we need to be beating these kind of teams. No excuses - Boro have not invested, we have - got to do them 2-0.

It will be a tough game, but with Gomes in goal, I see us getting a pts result.

They don't have Boatang anymore which is a plus imo, reckon our midfield will be able to dictate the game.
