The fella can't defend against Aaron Lennon, a problem no other fullback has had this season. He's over the hill IMO.

I dare say that if we went for one older LB out of contract in the PL, it should be Ashley Cole. That was hard to admit.

He has never been able to defend against Lennon though, whether it was this season or 2 seasons ago. Agree about Cole though.

I think the big question is where the Bosman 11 would finish in the Premier League! It seems like a few of the underperforming clubs who scraped Premier League 14/15 could do well with replacing as much of their team with the gimmer 11 as possible.

Personally Ashley Cole and Evra are both HUGE steps up over Mr. Rose, despite the age.

I would look at

Kasper Schmeichel
Patrice Evra
Joleon Lescott
Jeremy Menez

I think Kasper will sign on at Leicester though in the Prem and for us he is likely to be number 2 so probably wouldn't be interested (dont see him as ready to replace Lloris should he go)
Evra and Lescott worth a look as they are experienced and in positions we are thin - but it would come down to fitness and desire. Evra is in the WC squad for France so maybe has a little left in the locker.
Menez i know very little about but i saw him a few years ago in a couple of games and thought he looked a decent player - might be more of a Chadli type signing than Eriksen but for free could be worth a look.

Most others too old and/or not good enough - there are some though i have no clue who they are!

Lennon has made Evra look stupid a few times.......but Evra has owned Lennon far more often. 09 League cup final just one of many examples.

Didn't know that. Technically, Everton could just sort out some sort of agreement with Barry and wait until his contract is over, then pick him up when he's a free agent, surely?

There's nothing City can do to stop Everton signing Barry on a free, but there's also nothing stopping two parties signing a contract saying one of them has to pay £2.5 millions if it, let's say, rains on 1 September, or they hold Barry's registration that day.

Cole would be an excellent signing. Evra used to rely too much on his pace to help his defending so now he is losing his pace he isn't nearly as effective.
