He is very smug. When he went to Liverpool, they were far less stable than we were, having made themselves look stupid after the Suarez racism incident and sacked Dalglish the messiah.

Let's hope it goes horribly wrong for him.

He didn't turn us down. Didn't have the chance to. Had Harry joined England as expected though or had Liverpool not swooped in whilst we were figuring out what the hell to do after the FA chose Hodgson, then Rodgers would be our manager right now. That's opinion of course, but seemed fairly obvious to me at the time that he was our first choice

I really wanted him at the time but kind of have mixed feelings about it now. He's done great at Liverpool so far and I guess he'd have done well here too...but he's also turned out to be a massive tit (his skewed words here yet another example of his egotism). Not sure how I'd feel about having David Brent 2.0 as our king and saviour.

Martinez is the one I'm really regretting us not taking the punt on right now.

Football is such a fickle business. He was struggling along last year, and some Liverpool fans were already calling for his head. If he was in mid-table or worse right now he would be under all sorts of pressure.

He is sitting there all smug as if he was in 11th place with Liverpool right now, he would be under no pressure, as he was assured he has 5 years to work on his little 'project' no matter what.

Truth is, his team are playing well (aided by the best player in the league being on top form, scoring more than a goal a game) and so he thinks he is Billy Big Bollocks right now.

Liverpool are still a long way off being a top European side.

I can't wait for them to go through another bad spell now.

Is he a prick? Yes!

Does he sleep with Tranny's? Most likely.

Does he have a point? Err, what was that...Tranny's?

Whatever you think of this, you've got to admit that the comparisons between us and Liverpool over the past 18 months have compounded into something massively, massively depressing.

Luis Suarez signs new long-term Liverpool deal

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25463249

Come on, well all know contracts ain't worth shite.

Its a nice bonus for Suarez's form, gets him inside a little bit etc
If and when Real/Barca come in for him with big money, he is gone. Stick the mortgage on it. Might not happen in January but I would be amazed if it doesn't in the summer, especially after he has a storming World Cup ( at England's expense obviously!!! )

AVB lost Bale, Rodgers retained Suarez - would be interesting to know which manager would still have their job if roles were reversed.

I am sure we were looking around the market before Arry went o know what was available

He may well have been asked if he had any interest in us if we Spurs had interest in him

I very much doubt he was offered the job. Maybe he was 2nd or 3rd choice and that why he raises it

Nonetheless I am pleased he did not come but Marinez would have been different but was he decisive enougth in wanting to change clubs

One thing is for certain (top) managers will be uneasy. DL may well have to pay over the odds and give better assurances so he will be wary of a rookie

We need to stop sacking managers, but that is predicated on getting a good one in the first instance that is fit for purpose and not ones that are a bit od a gamble or have a dodgy record, a blemish on no understanding of the prem ( it may not be the best but it is unique with no easy games, long season and physically tough on the players) . We seem to be gambling on the European thing ( Levy wants the club better known outside the prem) rather than getting somebody who can get us to a title challenging position.

Lastly Levy probably needs a couple of leassons from the charm school. It ok to be tough and demanding but not to the detriment of the overall objective. Too many managers have fallen out with him. Its Ok if the reason is good enough but not because they disagree with him

Came here to abuse the guy but he hasn't actually said a lot wrong in the quotes copied above. I think many managers will look at our history and how we treat our managers and if they are any good and have confidence in themselves they will prefer to try their luck elsewhere.

As was said by a great goalscorer...football is a funny game. Brendan wont be so smug when Suarez gets his next lengthy ban for biting an opponent on the arse or something

Can hardly blame him, he is spot on. He also at a club which keeps its best players - something we can only dream of

so they never sold xabi alonso, javier mascherano and fernando torres then? if madrid had wanted suarez instead of bale then he'd have been sold as well.
