Wasn’t a classic performance but we played players in their best positions and in a familiar system and we grounded out a good win at a difficult place to go

And what particular move could have led to that?

You are using one example to justify the pressure we are continually putting on ourselves. Teams have worked it out and Dier and Dembele cannot cope at times.

1 goal doesn't make it right

We may be at crossed purposes, but I was referring to Kane's shot at the end that then ended with them scoring.

Hughton got that game all wrong. If they'd pressed us early I think they would of given us trouble like they did for the first 20 minutes or so of the 2nd half. Pretty sure if they had we'd of crumbled.

In any case we only got in front and wrecked their game plan because of an idiotic handball by Murray. We'd looked pretty ordinary up to that point with tons of boring sideways and backwards passing.
Why are you so exercised about how we played? We won a game many thought would be another banana skin.

The playing out from the back leaves me feeling ill. It was awful vs Inter and not great at times today,

We are damned if we do or damned if we don't tbh. A lot of top possession sides play out from the back & having Lloris (when not injured) in goal normally means giving possession away as his kicking is god awful. We need to move the ball quicker from the back, but not sure we have the composure at the back to do this.

Some people are easier pleased than others it would seem.
How you can add Rose whose defending (he is a defender you know) in the positives is beyond me.
Gazzaniga looked better than Vorm but still had shaky times from crosses
Dele had some nice flicks (as he normally does) but actually did very little

Son, Eriksen, Kane woeful again.
Kane woeful? Have a day off.

You'd better get used to it, because Poch was adamant that he wanted us to keep doing that.

Havent we always been playing it out from the back? The difference this season is we have looked crap and laboured doing it. We also need s fully fit Rose and Aurier for it to work effectively

Er. I see football as entertainment not a religion. When I was younger and went home and away in the 80s I was more focused on the winning I suppose.
I have high blood pressure watching Spurs doesn't help

I only remember one big chance that fell to him and he prodded it straight at Gazza.

Yes they pressed better and made a game of it for about 15 minutes but we created far more thereafter. We controlled the game All of first half where they hardly had a passage of play. And for the last half an hour we could of scored 4.

So overall, we should of won much more comprehensively.

Your assessment was hyperbole imo.
There were multiple times where Knockaert failed to connect with his crosses despite having targets in excellent positions. Brighton threatened a lot more than just the one-on-one chance during the first 20-25 minutes of the second half.

We did have a very good spell to start the game, but after Brighton settled into the match we didn't really create much of note until Murray completely unnecessarily gave away a penalty. So we were fortunate to take the lead, and fortunate not to surrender it. If that's not riding your luck I'm not sure what is. After we got the second they lost their impetus and we could have scored a hatful, but to say that 3-0 would have been a fair scoreline is to ignore everything that led up to the second goal.

Regardless though the overarching point of my post was that there were a lot of positives to take away from the match despite what I felt was a fairly poor performance until the second goal. For the first time this season there were moments (particularly the first fifteen minutes and the final twenty or so) where we looked like ourselves from a collective standpoint, and as I said there was a lot to be encouraged by on an individual basis as well.

There's been a lot of gloom hanging around the club so far this season but you felt watching that match that we are beginning to build back toward our best. That's what I was trying to get at, despite the fact that I felt that we benefited from good fortune.

All i can say about that performance is
3 points and green shoots...

With our non existent pre-season it was always gonna be a bit of a hit and miss start to the season, lets hope we can settle down now and start playing like a cohesive unit, in attack and defence.
