Exactly this. First XI kills most teams. But depth is the problem. So we just need to enjoy whatever happens this season
Sadly some people can't do that and think we should have built the complete squad in the summer. If they accept that was never possible they could enjoy it more.

Dissapointing, albeit the victims of our stupidity as per usual with these backup players. Two pens and a worldie, and plenty of chances of our own to claw something back. But as per usual without the first-team players there is such a drop in quality within the squad, to think that we only have two centre backs at the club deemed good enough to play is shocking, not even giving the youngsters a crack when we know how bad the alternatives can be. I know we will kick this can down the road again, but the league is wide open, we will lack ambition in Jan and end up with some 18 year olds that wont play rather than making some decisive, bold action.

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi on BBC Match of the Day: "We played fantastic football for 80 minutes and then we were unlucky in the first goal we conceded. After that we suffered the quality of Tottenham.

"Tottenham are the team that has played the best football in the first part of the season. We have to accept this reaction. We have to accept to concede a goal in this way. If we are able to win 4-0 and concede a goal in that way then it is because we are showing great character, courage and quality for 80 minutes, and sometimes you have to accept these mistakes.

This has arguably been one of our worst performances of the season and we still could have scored 5-6.

I’m fully behind Ange 100%
It's pretty evident where our shortcomings are and a lot of that is not down to Ange.

Yet still people are quick to jump on him.

Its fucking boring.

I like coming on here as its the only real place I can share joy with Tottenham fans.

But some people kill the mood instantly by being so OTT with criticism.

Did Ange get stuff wrong? Probably.
Who gives a shit. He's got a hell of a lot right and deserves a bit of leeway.

What coach gets everything right, they all have their flaws.

I am more than prepared to give him time and patience.

The real testing time will be when he has a squad more fitting to his desires and if you see the same issues, then is the time to get stuck in - even if I don't agree with it.

But I am starting to get weary from the OTT reactions and shit stirrers in here.

We didn’t show any urgency tonight until the last 15 . It was bizzare , we got to the edge of the box and then just slowed everything down , always looked for an extra pass instead of crossing or shooting . As poor as the defence was , the forwards wasted so many chances . Sonny shouid have been hooked sooner as he was totally off his game and it’s like playing with 10 . Somehow we have to muster a performance against a decent Bournemouth team and then start getting players back .

This was always going to be a process, the start of the season raised expectations, but we all knew that once injuries and suspensions hit we'd be in trouble. It was a poor performance overall, but we kept going, we kept trying to attack and trying to make things happen

Since the start of November we have conceded more goals (as many as Forest) than any other PL team.

Just saying, hope Baldy Man realizes that.

My 91 year old mother who is now a student of the game just texted "Where is Lucas Moura when you need him?"

Worth remembering the quality of players we have but weren’t playing today:

Van de Ven
Romero
Maddison
Bentancur
Bissouma

These are all players who were playing to a world class standard (bar Bissouma) before they got injured/suspended. We have a problem when it comes to the front three, but we have so many good players to come back into the team soon.

I am seriously thinking we should be looking at a new CD that can actually challenge him for the first spot alongside VDV, he is way to often injured or suspended. look up the stats, he misses 1/3 of the season every year, that is not good enough.

Don't think the poster was suggesting it was. As an eternal optimist and therefore Gil apologist, tonight was for me the Gil performance that finally made me realise he's never going to make it in the PL. Time to move on.
Yeah I think this may be Paraticis worst call.

He is a talented player and I can see why Paratici was following him. Probably had him high on is list for Juventus and thought he needed to snatch the talent at any cost.

Unfortunately, he just doesn't have that explosivensss to make up for a lack of strength and he isn't a modern winger who can go either way.

He is probably more of a playmaker/winger that plays off the centre but he is miles behind Deki and Maddison in that respect.

We need to remember we’re only half way through his first season and he’s only had one transfer window. Also remember the dog shit we were served up by the last three managers.

Its a fair shout.

Fair dos to the people who said in the summer that he couldn't be relied on and it's why we def needed another new CB.

I thought we may have been able to just about wait til we could get the one we really wanted in Jan.
But it has definitely cost us at least 6 points this season

Ange has had half a season.
We’ve lost our best two defenders.
Our midfield has lost its maestro, and last season’s best player.
We play a high risk style that we haven’t perfected and haven’t done much recruitment to support.

The future is bright. Forget this and move on.

You need to relax.

It’s fair criticism for a poor defensive performance. No one is calling for his head.

But he will need to sort this out as he doesn’t want to get associated with too many of these defensive horror shows. The press were already asking questions from other games.
