I quite like the Fernandes option, in 4231 he can play in the advanced three and be a threat with his ability to pick and pass or shoot off either foot, but equally where we’re notnunder pressure and are looking to unlock a packed defence, he can comfortably sit deep in the deeper two with his workrate, but then ping the ball all kinds of angles of either foot.
In a 433 he could slot in either bank of 3.
On that basis I actually think he’d be a better fit than Coutinho. Don’t get me wrong, Coutinho is classy, but does he provide the same level of tactical flexibility? He seems more locked into that forward three in either formation. He seems closer in type to Dybala, and frankly he seems more likely given the apparent agreed fee.
I’m thinking it’s Fernandes or Lo Celso, and Dybala or Coutinho. Eriksen out the door, and in truth no matter how good he was prior to the turn of 2019, getting two from those four above definitely softens the blow.
Add Sessegnon and if possible a RB if Aurier goes, then that’s a pretty damn productive window, and signals the shift to phase two Poch hinted at.

With all this Coutinho, Dybala and Lo Celso chat I’m becoming rather unbothered by Fernandes.

Terrified he’ll be a massive flop.

Shame he's having a medical tomorrow (according to Goat). Maybe it can still be cancelled if we get GLC/Dybala etc through.

He could either be a KDB, a playmaker and goalscorer with the energy of a box to box; or a Gylfi a player with great stats who can only shine when he's the centre of a lesser team. We won't know until we see him play for us.

(y) Agreed: it's more creators in the squad we need, not more goalscorers.
Who else scores goals apart from Kane and son? Occasionally Lucas.
We need both more creativity and another goal scorer from mid as dele has stopped scoring and erisken is hopefully off

..as dele has stopped scoring..
He'll be back amongst the goals before long.

If we pull this off, it will be a relieve of Eriksen departure.

I doubt we can pull off a big name signing now let alone 2. Sign him up and get Dybala would be the best window we had in last 5 years.

I hope we are still keeping this warm. I would have the medicals all done and keep all balls in the air until we get the signings we want ... though who that is I really don't know
