I completely disagree with Ralph but having an opinion does not make him stupid, come on man, we’re all Spurs here ?
But this wasn't anything to do with Spurs it was Spurs supporters sending a message to the idiots who sent racist remarks to young footballer. Just for a few minutes those fans rose above ignorance to show unity. If footballers can take the knee our fans can join the support and clap for a rival player.

I agree with what you’re saying but the point I was making is calling a fellow fan stupid for having an opinion is wrong for me. I don’t agree one bit with him and it was so heartwarming to see the fans do this, especially as it was not planned by the club. Ralf like many other people see things differently and voice that difference of opinion, it don’t make him or them stupid ?

If your dislike of a rival football team outweighs your dislike of racism, I think someone saying you're stupid is getting off pretty lightly.

Have a read through Ralph's posts. There's nothing there to suggest it was anything to do with colour and he even spoke out against the treatment the player received. I don't agree with Ralph's opinion but I disagree more with insults, that's not what this forum stands for.

Even ignoring the racism angle he's a teenager put into a tough position while serving for his - our - country in a major final, a burden he will carry for the rest of his life.

Imagine how heartening it must be for him that even his team's greatest rivals can find it in themselves to "forgive" (not that there's anything to forgive) him and express support/gratitude.

I have no issues admitting I teared up at that moment during today's game.

Well said, it’s definitely something to be proud of. Arsenal are our rivals in a game, not our enemies in a matter of life and death.

Not really helpful though is it? by you saying that it comes across as you stoking the flames and wanting to bait people, is it your intention to cause an argument?

honestly, it was. pretty pathetic I know.

As someone who considers themselves extremely diverse and liberal I've just been getting triggered by people trying to call me out for comments recently.

I also think the contest aspect should be taken into account If it had been a league or cup game it would need a different approach Anddont split hairs about this being a cup it was a pre season warm up game

Agree that insults don't help the exchange 'cause folks will just feel attacked and get defensive and it'll shut down any honesty unless they're given space. I'm interested in what @ralphs bald spot thinks now after he's had the space to process the thoughts of others re the issue.

Maybe if you're looking for the comments they become more apparent...

he is an Arsenal player no way should Spurs supporters applaud him
And you've lost sight of the normal priorities of being a decent human being in life. I'd spend some time getting them back. Fail to do that and you'll just end up an a-hole that none of the rest of us will have any time for. Seriously, if you are not joking, it's already a worry.

Honestly made me proud to be a Spurs fan, when this happened. Just goes to show human nature is more important than any rivalry. I’ve you’re one of the fans that attended and clapped I salute you.

Weird thread. Anyone not feeling this was a genuine heartwarming moment needs to take a serious inventory of themselves.

I wouldn't be surprised if The Don was controlling the audio system for the game and the claps came from there as opposed to our supporters. The Don could be going to work on the kid. Keep an eye out for any links to him.
