It's fair to say Burnley's win over Tottenham on Saturday was a shock. The Clarets may have been in good form, having not lost in their previous seven matches, but Spurs were in better form, had the best away record in all of Europe's top five leagues, had beaten every other team they had played in the bottom half of the table and were gunning for the title.

Thanks for article, but...

I don't get all this this noise about Foyth being targeted.

A young foreign CB with very little Premier league experience, playing alongside two of the best in the league.

Is it really a shock he was targeted.

Common sense suggests that when trying to win a match you look for areas of weakness. Foyth, whilst maybe not weak, has to be considered the weakest link of the three CBS on display.

Just don't understand the highlighting of this. All teams look for areas of weakness to exploit.

Shock...Foyth isn't at Alderweireld or Vertonghen"s level yet so was considered the easiest to exploit.

They also realised that the Foyth/Aurier area in general could cough up some opportunities for them. Pretty basic stuff.

Just like Dortmund. In the first half they were baiting Foyth into doing something rash so they could counter.

Teams target opposition players all the time, but the lack of class in discussing it afterwards is out of order.

It is obvious Chelsea are targeting Walker and Kompany today. They won't mention it afterwards.

No real problem with them saying this stuff it was a tactic and a big win for them honestly. We should have been able to deal with it. I think that is partly why poch lost his rag. Foyth will be fine, all a learning experience.

To be fair, Chelsea doesnt have the opportunity to memtion it since they lost and have an open mutiny on their hands
