It's been 1 year since Callum's accident.
I thought I was going to struggle today - there's still time (!!) - but I feel overwhelmingly happy.
I'm so proud of everything we've achieved as a family. Callum has obviously had a monumental year. He's survived his accident. Endured 7 operations. Spent 5 months in hospital. And adapted marvellously to the changes in his capabilities.
Kieran has proved to be an outstanding young man. Remember he was in the tree with Callum when his accident happened. He had to deal with absent parents, and adapt and support his brother in his recovery. He's gone from being the younger to the older brother. And on top of all this he has excelled at school. He's remarkable.
And my husband and I are now coping with him working away from home. But we make it work.
We've had the best summer ever. Can't believe I'm saying this but I'm happy!!!

Wonderful that you have two boys you can be so proud of. Well done Callum and Kieran and to Callum's Mum, it is amazing what we as parents are able to cope with.

Wow, bit of a trek for the first game...

Let's hope it's all fun for him, from journey to game.

It was a good game, just a shame we didn't come away with all three points. (Next time eh!). Hope you enjoyed your day Callum - love the photo xx

@Callum's Mum - So good to see that pic when I look back at how this thread started and remember @Milky Bar Yid's original post saying what had happened and how devastating - and scary - the story was. Well done Callum, a year later and look where you are! And congrats as well to all the family. Nothing better than a young lad in his Spurs shirt going to the match is there? :):):)

We've had the best news EVER! We had Callum's appointment with his back consultant yesterday. No further surgery required. Most restrictions lifted, apart from bungee jumping, sky diving and trampolining! He has to build up but his back is safe. Wants to see and X-ray him in a year, and if all ok, he'll be discharged! Happy is an understatement!!
