Can anybody who booed Adebayor explain why they booed him?

Its not on every year, that's why I am asking

But you know the one i mean.. why the playing dumb?

the last one (i think). the one who meandered back from at his own pace when had barely any cover.

Not that it'll make an iota of difference to the haters but there was a perfectly valid, indeed honorable, reason why he was back late. I don't recall the exact detail, but broadly it involved his teammates being stranded due to 'inefficiencies' of some sort with the Togo national setup

Although he could have (& probably should have) just left them to sort themselves out he stayed as captain in order to show solidarity & help sort the issue out

The story's out there if anyone's of s mind to search around a bit

Not vouching for it to be true, I've no idea, but there are many sides to any story as we all know & that was it from his side

He doesnt contribute anymore than Adebeyor, yet somehow he's credited with things that are conveniently forgotten from Adebeyor.

http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?threads/tottenham-hotspur-goals-assists-2014-2015.111657/

Total goals and assists for Soldado and Adebayor (being fouled for a penalty not being counted as an assist - some statisticians would have credited Soldado with two assists in the last week)

8 - Roberto Soldado - 4 - 4 - 1148
3 - Emmanuel Adebayor - 2 - 1 - 852

Minutes per goal/assist

191.3 - Roberto Soldado
284 - Emmanuel Adebayor

If you want to split hairs, two of Adebayor's three contributions came at home to QPR, the worst defence in the league, and pre-renaissance Newcastle who were in the relegation zone at the time (and still the third leakiest defence in the league.) If you wiped them out we wouldn't be any worse off points wise. At least one of Soldado's goals won us three points.

How about distance run, touches of the ball, passes, key passes, tackles, winning the ball back after losing it, headers won Etc etc.

Wait, does that mean half of Kane's goals don't count either?

Only 2 of our 3 strikers have proven that they can score consistently in the league.

My point was not about goals in Europe not counting but if you're comparing 2 players where one only plays in the league and the other plays against a bunch of lower league team then of course the stats will be favour the point you're trying to make.

Can't seem to find any info on off-the-ball work, like distance covered or anything.

If Ade comes on as a sub tomorrow, will the travelling 5,500 boo? I'd like to think we have a good away support who wouldn't do that but I'm not holding my breath. Given the tough atmosphere expected, we need our fans to really be behind the team tomorrow.

Adebayor bother dies, he then has problems with family members. It was reported his mother cursed him African style at that time his form wasn't great. To make peace with his family he asked for time out to patch things up.

Then he gets booed.

We've been through this with you for pages and pages in the Soldado thread - it's never been about the stats!

It's pantomime sadly nothing else and al very silly this booing lark

Exactly.

The unfortunate fact is that there are still a lot of people (perhaps season ticket holders) that go to games and are what you could call 'knuckle draggers'.

They're the same people who would sing the racists/offensive songs. Simple minds who don't know much more about the team than what they read in the papers. As far as the story is laid out for him, he's an ex-gooner mercenary who does what he wants when he wants.

Of course that's really not the case at all, but sometimes you can't educate the ignorant.

Of course that's really not the case at all, but sometimes you can't educate the ignorant.

As HR said when he started bringing these highly controversial figures to the club,
if they are playing really well, then the fans will all be behind them 100%.
And if they play consistently badly, we'll want them out, but we'd want them out anyway regardless of their history. It's a no brainer.

What HR chose not to consider was the long periods most players have when they are not one extreme or another. If they are young, home grown or have achieved legendary status, then the fans will often stick with them long past their sell date.

Someone with Adebayor's baggage (in bold) is simply not going to get any slack here. That was entirely predictable. All I can think is that HR was planning to play his man of the people card at this point: the fans don't like him; they don't want him on the pitch. I can't play him.
And Levy would be forced to act.

Instead MP has defiantly made Adebayor captain. It is a bold move to say the least.

Always problems with Adebayor. Maybe the reported evicition by him of his mum from (one) of his houses had something to do with it.
Anyway, at the risk of negative responses, I had the feeling, that the whole atmosphere at the club and team morale was better when he was absent.
