Can anybody who booed Adebayor explain why they booed him?

There's something cute about grown up men shouting BOOOOO at the top of their lungs.

To the the tune of the specials - a message to you rudy

Stop your messing around (ah-ah-ah)
Better think of your future (ah-ah-ah)
Time you straighten your form out (ah-ah-ah)
May get shipped out of town (ah-ah-ah)

My unoriginal attempt to make a chant out of this debacle. Go on, flame away lads... BTW I'm on the anti booing brigade, to make my position on this known.

But then what is the point at all..... if you know or feel that deep down they know how badly they have performed then surely they know you know too.... If that is the case then the booing is irrelevant.

I can see the logic in that, but booing is often how a fan releases his anger/frustrations - it isn't neccessarily done to affect the player is it (the Adebayor incident is different obv).

What do you think is the more appropriate way for a fan to show frustration and disappointment?

Or should we not take it too seriously? I've tried to adopt this approach this season in fairness and all it has done has left me completely unattached to the team in either good or bad times.

I did the same with Ramos because I knew it was a terrible appointment but that philosophy worked well in that period.

I dont know..... the silence at white hart lane when things arent going well for me makes more of an impact in the right way than booing.

The opposite of applause is surely silence?

I just find booing so childish - when else in life do you boo to show your disappointment?

In an entertainment arena you would boo, or you would leave. It has happened in cinema's, theatres, music concerts and many, many sporting arenas.

Spurs fans sitting in silence for 90 mins is a far greater issue than a few fans booing after the final whistle imo.

FAR greater.

If you want to stop booing you might as well try and stop cheering, too. They are two sides of the same coin. If people are happy with what they see, they can do nothing or cheer. If they are unhappy with what they see they can do nothing or boo. Either way it's entirely up to them and none of my business. Each to their own and long may that continue.

On a personal level I choose not to boo, even though I find my patience with Adebayor wearing increasingly thin. Nothing personal against him, I just don't think he's very good.

The point of being a supporter is that you should behave in a way that makes the club perform better. That is why most of the times teams tend to do better at home turf. Booing a player that plays for your club isnt going to do that. They need their confidence when they're in a one-on-one situation in the League Cup final with Curtois. Taking that away would be STUPID wouldn't it?

I absolutely do not think that sitting in silence for 90 mins during the game is an option, apologies if i made it sound like that was my stance. I was saying that my preference would be silence rather than booing during a game for those who feel that booing during the 90 mins is a good idea or would have anything other than a negative impact.

If you choose to stay to the end of the game and you are upset or frustrated by the performance then rather than booing - just dont clap or show your appreciation in any way and leave.

This is just my opinion.

It seems the majority are against Adebayor being booed.

So why didn't we all stand up and just start chanting his name?

Problem solved - and what a boost it would give to the player.

Just like we try and do for Soldado every time he plays.

This has got totally out of hand. The people that are booing or hate him don't even have any evidenceof what he's done wrong. Just rumours and hearsay. Something tells me that if he looked like Vertonghen or Eriksen things wouldn't be as bad. Make of that as you want.

YankSpurs argument for Ade being useless was that it was just a fact. The Ade haters don't even know why they hate him, they're just brainwashed into thinking he's all these things without looking at things in context.

Useless - well he has a far better goalscoring record than Soldado. People still like Soldado so it can't be that.

Lazy - he never runs or tracks back, they never have stats to prove this and I can clearly see Ade back for every corner, running the channels, in the middle of the park etc so unless my eyes are deceiving me that can't be the reason.

Mercenary - Falcao, Rooney, Bony are just a few names that spring to mind. Ade never moves to sit on the bench and gives a large percentage of his earnings to charity but just like every other human he wants to earn as much as he can. What's wrong with that?

Whether it's because he's an ex-gooner or what I don't know but Ade has done no less than any other shit striker we've had over the years yet he gets abused and booed like he's scum. Why is it when Ade plays badly it's because he's choosing to but when other people play badly it's because they're having a dip in form? You can't just choose which it is to help your argument.

Once again, this post will be quoted by the Ade haters who will post nothing but pure opinion as to why he's so bad.

I don't like his attitude on and off the pitch.

The evidence I can give is that I have eyes, ears and opinions of things.

I do not like Ade's attitude or his languid style of play but it doesn't make me want to boo him.
He's entitled to his opinion of the home crowd as we are allowed our opinion of him.

Seemingly some people unfortunately believe everything they read/hear in the press.
They obviously think they have no other way of making their feelings toward Ade known than by booing him.
They don't seem to even realise, or just don't give a toss, about the detrimental effect it can have on the team.

Really sad

I have written many pages on why he is hated and why I never wanted him in the first place AND predicted this would happen.

But I will not make it easy for you Borksie. But the truth IS out there. And when I say out there I mean in here. Out this thread but in other Dear Ade threads.

Godspeed my superfan. Godspeed.

And there we go ladies and gentleman, not one single fact in an argument as to why Ade is lazy and useless. You've really outdone yourself YankSpurs.
Ade haters are just sheep, "I have an arsenal supporting mate who said Ade only plays for a contract so it must be true, let's boo him"
Talking about facts can you prove that he does cover a lot of ground?

People can see that he doesn't press nor that he seems to run a lot, that's their facts - their eyes work sometimes as long as they aren't crying and if they are crying not to sure why they are at a football match.

And that is why we have a shit atmosphere. I was so jealous of the Sheff Utd fans on Wed, I know some will view it was a 'bigger match' (well ironically it probably wasn't) for them but they put our fans to total shame. Our home fans, bar Chelsea, have been disgraceful for a long time now. The Ade issue is just another nail in the atmosphere coffin. People would rather spend time talking about how much of a **** he is, than actually support the team.

I've asked in this thread twice if anyone has the stats on distance covered yet nobody can prove that he runs significantly less than any other striker. I want to see the stats and if it turns our he covers 20% less ground than all of our recent strikers then I will be the first to apologise and admit that others were right. However, nobody is willing to provide those stats.
