Was just looking at a few threads and a lot of people seem to have warmed to Adebayor coming to the club, does anyone think the unthinkable could happen and Adebayor becomes a fans favourite especially if he bangs in some goals:shrug:

Hope so.
I worry, as some other posters have said, everyone is expecting too much from him.
I will cheer him on like any other player though from the first whistle of his first game.
Plus he performed my all time favourite goal celebration.

I have to admit I disliked the man immensely when he played for Arse anal, mainly due to his goal scoring record against us, however after his Man Citeh theatrics with the Arse fans I started to warm to him. Now that he's about to continue his playing career with us, should he go on a season long goal scoring spree..........yes, I could definitely take to the man.

Adebayor has done several things that has warmed us fans to him.

Scoring against Arsenal and celebrating as he did obviously endears him to us, then there was the comments about the chants during the Real - Spurs games, and of course fans will not hate (or hate less) a player who joins from a rival, than a player who leaves for a rival.

Also our strikers have hardly been on form for the last 12 months, so if he can come in and score the goals that others haven't we will like him even more.

If he shows desire and fight, then he'll do well with the fans. If he scores goals then he might get some love from the fans

Without doubt! The celebration in front of the arsenal fans when he scored for city put him down as my fav ex arsenal player..(not that there are many).

I think he will score goals, but I want to see effort go into to his game as well. If he does that for us it could be harrys best signing yet.

I am looking forward to see him score. He might show our other goal shy strikers how it should be done.

He will become a Legend if he scores against the Scum.

Hates Arsenal, hates Arsene, hates City, hates Mancini.

If that's not your ideal Spurs player, what is?!

Word is, for the next Chelsea game he's gonna stroll into the crowd and land one on Abramovich just to cement his place as the complete fan's favourite.

he'd be a legend if he does the same celebration against the scum when we play them and he scores... at the emirates.

Is it even in doubt? He's light years ahead of any striker we've had at the club since Berbatov. I wanted us to sign him last summer and I think he will have a huge impact.

Why is it unthinkable? Gallas did it easily enough and had less to work with.

As Harry said: If he scores they'll worship him. If he doesn't they'll slaughter him.

I have never understood this hate of ex goon players. It's the club, the institution and everything they stand for that I hate, not a player because he used to wear Red and White.

FFS, they have never had a problem with accepting our former players, particularly if they were an improvement on what they had.

Adebayor wasn't brought up in Islington, didn't spend his youth in the North Bank, doesn't sport a scum tattoo and has never proclaimed that he could never play for Spurs as it would upset the goon fans.

So why even the possibility of hating him for his former employment? Fucking asinine really and really displays the limited mentality of those who 'hate' him because of who he used to play for.

After 3 seasons without a competent striker, Ayman al-Zawahiri would become a fans favourite if he showed himself to be a decent #9.

I've no strong feelings about Ade based on his history, just hope that he's the answer to our prayers.

Dan, if Parker plays well, will the unthinkable happen and he becomes one of your favourites?

But Adebayor has been an excellent player for 5 or 6 years - the only questions about him have been about his Arsenal links. While Parker has played a few games for a lesser enemy, what is important is the he has been an average player for more than a decade. He's always going to be back-up for Sandro anyway.
