Can we take a moment to laugh heartily at Everton?

This is the latest from an hour ago. It might well happen tonight but can't find anything official yet.

Bit of a drama queen tweet. Calvert Lewin has been out for months, so not really a surprise that they have struggled when the club seems to think like your average clueless fan, and assume that spending money will entitle you to european places.

Not even like Benitez has spent hardly any of that - it's down to Koeman and Silva.

Always thought they gave him grief. Fair enough.

Not really - still a proper blue to the faithful.

The only reason the fans would want him to not be manager is similar to the reasons people wouldn't want Mason - not because they don't like him, or that he'd be awful, but that the job would ruin him in the same way that Lampard got chewed up by Chelsea.

What's hilarious is they have fans who are begging for Jose. It's amazing how his brand is somehow still alive

Gray & Townsend were their incomings in the summer for £1.7m, both have been their best players this season.
The club is bust, they’ve sold a decent LB and they won’t get anyone in.
Rafa shouldn’t have gone near it but I suppose the deluded Liverpool supporters will think Agent Rafa…

I bet the Toffee fans were jumping around celebrating when Moshiri took over the club, and even more so when that other multi-billionaire crook Usmanov joined him after being kicked out of Arsenal. WTF has happened at Goodison since these two took over is nothing short of scandalous.

I think the phrase 'Be careful what you wish for' is very appropriate there.

Also add in that their key striker has been injured since november, and one of the other sources of their goals has disappeared into some sort of noncey saferoom.

Personally, I'd love to see Everton relegated along with the likes of Newcastle and Burnley. Unlikely I know but we can but dream.

I might be misremembering, but aren't they one of the only clubs to have never been relegated from the top flight?

They're one of just 6 (us, Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea, and Liverpool) to never have been relegated from the Premier League.

Benitez was always a weird appointment but Everton's recruitment has been almost as bad as ours. The club has no identity or vision whatsoever.
I mean this is a ridiculous statement when we're 6th and in Europe every year, and they're 15th and haven't played in Europe in a while. Their recruitment has been FAR worse than ours.

I don't think he was kicked out of Arsenal.

I think he got fed up that Kroenke wouldn't sell his shares, so decided to take his money elsewhere.

Its grim at Everton right now, but I think they'd be daft to sack him. It's a terrible look to lose at Norwich, and I'm surprised they did to be honest, because this was always the start of a make or break run of fixtures. Norwich, newcastle, leeds, Southampton, coming up. A turn around is possible in a season they'll do nothing in anyway. Who can come in and change things that much? Why spend nearly 20M on a left back and then sack him.

They need a longer view. At least to the end of this season. They wont go down.
