Last 4 of this comp are pretty much Arsenal, Utd, Man City and most probably Chelsea, the last 4 years have wielded a pattern of 3 of those teams lifting the trophy - tell me again how "easy" it is to win this competition lol

Those big boys want silverware now. Bragging rights by default.

The last couple of decades the League cup was in the wilderness.

I blame Wenger - playing with his youngsters all those years

Good thing is that it gives 4 of our rivals a couple of extra games in the week in January and since they're going to be playing against strong competition they're likely to play stronger sides

Agree, with them extra games they have to play I think we could win 20 in a row and just sneak the title!!!!!!!!!!

Haven't you got the memo this cup is beneath us. We finished above Arsenal that one time after all..

The extra games only a positive for the clubs involved if they only let their youngsters and second string play.

Players like Foden and Diaz (amongst many others) get conpetitive games they otherwise would not get

I'd genuinely forgotten this competition was still going on.

It's a colossal waste of everyone's time and I'd be saying that even if we were still in it (I had to check we weren't still in it before posting).

We need to get rid of this competition and use the time to fit in some sort of break in the season.

There have been games on:

22nd/23rd August
19th/20th September
24th/25th October
19th/20th December

If you put Premiership games in those three slots instead, and didn't have any games on the 19th/20th December (or maybe move one of the games from between Xmas and New Year), you could alleviate some of the game pressure at this time of year and then build in a three week gap after the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

I'm sure it's not quite as simple as that, but for all the complaints about fixture congestion and other countries being able to have a winter break, there seems a solution in this country that people aren't prepared to look at for some reason.

From what I can find out it looks like there were 44k in The Emirates last night, the away support was capped at 7k
by The People's Republic of Islington Council in the interests of public safety.

Apparently there was only 36k at the Wembley fixture in the previous round.

Quadruple for store bought City ?
That would have to be some kind of record, wouldn't it?
A foreign country winning 1 European and 3 English sporting trophies in the same season?
A helluva an achievement, especially for a corrupt, despotic theocracy.

Not much else is there...

Champions league is usually dominated by Spanish sides... FA cup always at the business end of the season...

The league cup is actually a decent option now to have a "successful" season.

Not a huge fan of the competition... But a cup is a cup. Would love to still be in it.
