No, don't think we are. We're going to be entered in the 3rd round. I think the top 8 teams in the Premiership start in the 3rd round and the other 12 are in the 2nd round.

Really? I thought it was just the teams in Europe that got the bye.

I'm confused now. This is from the carling cup website.

"There will be 70 Football League clubs appearing in the first round with Newcastle United and Middlesbrough receiving byes as the highest placed Football League clubs in last season's league tables."

So that mean 37 teams (including Newcastle and Boro) progress from round one to round two, so that means there needs to be 13 premiership teams in round two. So maybe we will be in tonight's draw. Don't know where I read we won't be.

So we might be in it

I think we must be in it now. I didn't realise Boro and Newcastle got byes if they didn't what I said before stands correct but as they did there needs to be 13 premiership teams in the second round, so as we're not in Europe we will be in the second round.

Pretty sure we are in the second round. I hope we are, and I hope we get a nice easy game at home so we can play some fringe/youth players

There's a seeding system in the Second Round?

Never knew that before.

Tonights games finish at 9:30 ish (unless there's ET) so the draw will take place around then. If there's ET I don't know if they'll delay it.

Here's hoping for a home game against Accrington Stanley (who are they?????)

One of the 12 original clubs in the Football League.

Went bust in the 60s and have worked their way back up into the League system with their recent (a couple of years ago) promotion to League 2.

Just to answer your question

We get to the final and we don't get seeded for 3rd round draws. There's something wrong there!

Its seeded so that the lower league teams get guarenteed higher league opposition, leading to them getting more cash from playing premiership teams. thats the theory anyway, may just be to get them out of the way
