It was without doubt a collective effort, but I think it's only fair that Baldini gets his fair share of the praise aswell. He was instrumental in an awful lot of the behind the scenes changes that have led us up to this point. He will be remembered by many as the waster of the Bale money, although of the ones he brought in only Vlad was a flop(and we recouped most of that money).
Surely Soldado was a complete and utter flop too? And Paulinho?

They were, AVB pushed hard for both. Not everyone on the transfer comitee were in full agreement on all the incomings. I will say it again.. FB was NOT a director of football responsible for all transfers. He WAS a technical director with various other duties including being involved in the transfer comitee.

Do you know how transfers are done now? Is there still a committee?

Yeah, there sort of still is. MP has the final say on all ins and outs though, as did AVB (well as far as the ins were concerned at least).

Not popular on this forum I know, but Lamela hasn't proven his worth yet IMO and right now is the one we need to upgrade on of the three behind Kane. Soldado I liked a lot but he was a disaster. Capoue was poor. Chadli is a good squad player and we paid the right amount of money for him. Eriksen was a steal and a great bit of business. I think we overpaid for Davies. Stambouli and Fazio, not sure what they were about!

I'd bet AVB didn't. The public line is Managers have the final say. Reality has stated differently, especially as Managers have said afterwards they didn't. It was claimed Santini had the final say and then Santini came out and said he didn't want Carrick. Ramos and AVB have also both since claimed that players were signed they didn't want.

It basically works like this.

If Levy can be persuaded by the scout, Manager, DoF that the player is a good deal, won't cause trouble publically, can improve the commercial exposure of the club and can potentially be sold on without a loss then we'll purchase him. Levy has final say on all signings and if persuaded can and does sign players that the Manager doesn't necessarily need or want.

Wasn't saying you did say that! I said it!

Let me put it this way. 3 years ago my daughter wanted a horse, a bike, and make up etc for Christmas, she got everything but the horse! You asked me a question and have taken what I said, and deliberately tried to put a negative spin on it IMO.

Whilst his output in relation to goals is quite poor, his assists and tireless work rate make up for that in my opinion. We lose a lot of momentum when he isn't there.

No mention of adding to our squad depth for next season, going to assume that is a given after recent results.

I'm a big levy fan but this years success is down to Pochettino and his team, great job from them. In the background though I can't remember the club being in this much harmony and with as much to look forward to in the coming years. The stadium and training facilities will be Levy's legacy at the club and a testament to the commitment Enic have made.

Agreed.

Same Chairman...different result.

Poch has been a revelation.

I have been one of Levy's strongest critics at times but he is winning over me. He clearly has an idea for this club and want us to compete.
