Atletico Madrid's on-loan goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is unlikely to play against parent club Chelsea if the sides are drawn to face each other in the Champions League semi-finals.

Under the terms of the deal that took Courtois to Spain, Atletico would have to hand over a sizable fee for the Belgium star to play against the Blues.

"It's a number we can't afford to pay," said club president Enrique Cerezo.

Atletico made the last four with a 2-1 aggregate win over Barcelona.

The draw for the semi-finals takes place on Friday, with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid joining Atletico and Chelsea in the final four.

It has been reported in Spain that it could cost Atletico £4.95m for Courtois, 21, to feature against the Blues.

Courtois signed a five-year contract with Chelsea in 2011 when hemoved from Genk for an undisclosed fee but has never played for the Stamford Bridge club.

He is spending a third season on loan at Atletico, who are one point clear at the top of La Liga with six matches left.

I think this is the hardest game for Chelsea personally, if they played Real or Bayern they'd be content with sitting back and hitting them on the counter, when you have players like Hazard, Schurle and Eto'o they'd fare much better than Utd.
