I was just thinking today, on a continental level, us winning this would be right up there with Denmark and Greece winning the Euros or Porto winning the CL. It’s fairytale stuff.

Sitting here quietly this morning (waiting for some wall paint to dry) when the depth of this occasion finally hit me. Yes I've been taking the piss out of Klopp and saying I dread the thought of losing to the scousers but all the time I've been missing the heart of the matter.

I've been supporting this wonderful football club for over 50 years which means I have witnessed some marvellous and also heartbreaking moments. I have seen truly talented genius on the WHL pitch and have those memories to keep me warm on a cold Irish Winter's evening. My grandchildren have often been subjected to another of 'Grandad's Stories' about Spurs and tried their best to look interested, but suddenly that's changed. They are fully aware of who Tottenham Hotspur are now and listen intently when I tell them about Jimmy Greaves and how he was the Harry Kane of my youth. Suddenly Spurs are right back on the footballing map and smack in the media spotlight.....brilliant and long overdue.

This season they have taken this 'old duffer' on a magnificent roller coaster journey at both league and European competition level. We have finished a creditable fourth and qualified yet again for the CL next season despite having to compete with teams that were able to have far more financial clout in the transfer market than ourselves. The icing on the cake was that we did it without having any transfer dealings at all.

So now June 1st approaches and only two sets of footballing fans throughout the whole of Europe have anything to look forward to on that evening. I am lucky enough to be one of them as is everyone else here on this website. The journey ends in Madrid but before it does so and we are either cheering or sobbing, I want to do one thing. I would like to personally thank the manager and team for giving me a ticket to ride on what has truly been the trip of a lifetime. I sincerely hope many more journeys of such magnitude lie ahead for this fantastic club and I am granted a few more years with which to share them.

I would be proud to be able to say "Spurs are European Champions" but whatever happens my pride in what they have accomplished so far in the 2108/19 season will remain undiminished.
Let's hope they light up the city of Madrid with their football and bring the trophy back to our new stadium.

COYS !!

30c forecast at KO that’s a massive factor. Liverpool certainly won’t be able to play their usual frantic style. Good luck to Andy Robertson if he thinks he can bomb up and down in 30c heat. Interestingly in the 3 previous games we’ve had an average of 59% of the ball. Could the heat favour us ?

More like Portugal winning the euros or maybe similar to Croatia making the WC final. We are dark horses not some complete outsider. Let's not forget how good we have actually become.

Totally agree and we certainly will not be underestimated by any team next season regardless of the result in the final.....(which we will win of course)....(y):)

Nah, we’re a team with one semi-final in our entire history. Absolutely no-one would have given us a hope at the start of the competition.

Going to be a nervous wreck this coming week.

Already have to occasionally stop and pinch myself to remind me that we are playing in the final of the biggest competition in the world.

I fucking woke up this morning at 3am, looking for a laptop to watch the highlights of the dream I had, so vivid. Kane Penalty..... to win.....oh the meltdown.....I thought I had this suppressed, I guess I was wrong.
No work done next week either.

I'm pretty sure he meant the European Cup, which has always been the pinnacle of European football ahead of the UEFA Cup and Cup Winners Cup.

The thing ive been pondering about the last couple of days is........

Will the 3 week break harm them more than us? The reason i ask this is the dirrences in styles of play. Will the break help them charge up and press like crazy with high intensity or will it harm them not having done it for a few weeks?

Our style is alot more difference imo. It should harm us much tbh.

Thoughts?

I’d say their style against us is usually to create chaos by snapping away in the midfield and take advantage of the loose ball bouncing around by knocking it between the lines quickly to Sane (left) or Salah (right).

This could see us struggle with any players not 100% comfortable under the high press (Wanyama / Dier) but could turn into a strength if we can break through the press with Winks or Sissoko.

Big thing for me will be the Milner vs Dele battle as Milner’s a nasty little **** who’ll be after him trying to get a reaction.

I’m strangely confident but the next week will be torture

This would suggest that we are no bodies or no hopers, coming out of nowhere to win. That is not the case in my opinion. You discredit or underestimate our standing in club football. In the last two seasons we have outplayed, beaten and drew against the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus, so we are not an unknown entity. The footballing world knows about us, trust me on this!
