Are you seriously suggesting that fans donate money to enable a top flight club worth millions and millions of pounds to pay for a one player who wont drop his six figure a week salary to play for us? Am i the only person who finds the idea of this rather disgusting?

Darlington Football club is on the brink of going out of business, countless other clubs are in similar situations and you want me to donate money to pad out a millionaire's wallet?

Seriously?

No, that's not what he's saying.

He's suggesting that the club pay money into a charity of Ade's choosing and pay him a lower wage. Paying the money into a charity would save the club some tax somewhere along the line. I'm not sure how realistic this is but it's certainly an interesting idea.

Because a football club wont pay the astronomic wages he demands.

To save money on tax.

For a Premier League football club and a millionaire.

Lets be united everyone.

I had an idea 10 years ago when we were not doing so well named S.O.S i.e. Spirit of Spurs.

I felt at that Spurs fans all around the World could contribute something to a foundation whereupon the funds could be made available to the Club to make our Tottenham great again.

Unfortunately i suffered a serious cancer issue which I only just survived but it took the wind out of my sails for a long time.

Lets not argue about who and why.

We need a new stadium for example and money would fix that issue and with it the issue of more funding for players.

As they say, give a man a fish to eat and you have provided him with food for one day. Show him and give him the means to fish and he will have food everyday forever.

Once of Farningham Road, Tottenham, Waltham Cross and the Rodings, I have lived in New Zealand 40 years.

The charitable donation wouldn't really work because it is still money being spent by the club which we can't afford.

As for Ade's ability. He isn't world class but he has the attributes we need to play as a lone striker. Football is a team game and HR understands the qualities needed to fit our system. There are better players around than Adebayor who wouldn't be as effective for us.

Adebayor always works hard which means even when he isn't playing well he is still a useful asset for us.

Is this thread really suggesting that we should provide charity to a footballer because he will earn £100k a week and not £170k? Really?

If by 'we' you mean the fans then no that's not what the OP is saying. If by 'we' you mean Tottenham Hotspur football club then yes.

Ade giving money to charity is admirable, but using it as a reason not to take a pay cut is well..........sad really. If I had found out he was funding something in Togo via pics of said developmental and happy, smiley faces its one thing. However, when we first hear it, it's in relation to not wanting to cut his 11.7 million pounds, yes 11.7 million according to the man himself, a year contract. Unfortunately he, or his agent, wasn't the first sadly deluded individual to come out with such nonsense.
My heart bleeds, it really does.

As a club we can't keep exceeding expectations forever .

There comes a time when we have to be able to compete financially with our competitors and that also requires Fifa/Uefa to become serious about financial fair play as they obviously aren't at the moment .
