Just confirmed for £16.1 mill. Good signing for the chavs as they desperately need a quality RB.

Wonder what that means for Essien? Or whether he'll revert to his proper position, and it'll mean the end for Makalele?

It will mean Essien back to midfield, but dont think it will really affect him, he only players RB to cover. Seems like a good signing, RB has been a prob for them all season

He'll probably go the same way as Ferreira, who was a fantastic rampaging full back when they signed him but quickly took on the Chelsea ethos (see also: Duff, Joe Cole, Robben, Parker) and had all his enjoyment sucked out of him. If the same thing happens with Bosingwa they'll have a problem because he's not as solid defensively as Ferreira.

Glenn Johnson, Belletti, Boulahrouz, Ferreira and Bosingwa.

How much have Chelsea spent on right backs?

I may have forgotten one or two as well.

Signing for Chelsea is pretty close to retiring from football. Why do they bother.

My concern is the price: if Chelski paid £16m for a 26 years old RB then how much won't a 22 years old DMF like Veloso - who Spurs are said to be after - cost. The time to pick up bargains in Portugal seem to be over...

off the beeb.

Portuguese journalist Alberto da Silva, who works for Abola, believes Bosingwa has been overvalued by Chelsea.
"He's a good player but he's not worth that much money," he told BBC Radio 5 Live. "I think Chelsea's current right-back Paulo Ferreira is a better player. I don't know who negotiated the deal, but he did well for Porto."

Abramovich must be well chuffed, with the way there wasting his money, not that it makes a big difference to his pocket.

If Spurs get him, 15m or so. If Chelsea go for him, I would expect him to cost THE ENTIRE WORLD.
