I'm sure Sky Sports just said it was all done. I can't seem to find concrete evidence, or I can't be arsed to look, but it's pretty much finalised.

I think he's a good signing. He seems to have been forgotten on most lists of the best players at Euro 2008, but up until Portugal went out, was there a better midfielder in the tournament?

I called this transfer in the big phil takes over at Chelski thread! I am not so sure how he and Ballack will play together as Fat Frank and Ballack didnt really work either.

Deco was pretty poor most of the season for Barca, but he was effectively sharing the playmaker role with the likes of Xavi and Iniesta. At Chavski, he will presumably be the playmaker, and I suspect this will suit him.

It will be interesting to see how he does, but my impression of Deco is that when things are going well he looks great. However when you need to dig out a result or performance he goes hiding amongst the other two midfielders that he needs to play with.

If he leads to fat frank leaving then I'll be delighted
