Which has been the club plan from the day we brought him in. He knew the score from the outset. I posted all this this afternoon.

How
so many can't get their heads round this was going to take longer than a couple of covid ridden months is honestly baffling.

I think we all understand that. What is worrying is the types of players we are being linked with and who we actually bring in.

It’s clearly going to take two or three windows, but until we see the club making the right type of signings and the right profile and quality, well we aren’t in a good place with the team are we.

Maybe I'm being a bit harsh here as the pass from Tanganga was poor, but should Emerson not be putting his body on the line to get there before Alonso in a semi final?

Little things like that swing these sort of games as we've seen!

They are both extremely poor ??

If we aren't going to play Ndombele at 6 then it has to be Winks. We desperately need midfielders who can play quick defence splitting balls in behind and, sad as the reality is, Winks is the only one doing that at the moment. Ndombele has the ability (much more in fact) but simply can't stay in the game for more than ten minutes for whatever reason.

PEH has many qualities but they seem to have been burnt out by the Euros...

It’s 2022 and spurs fans are clambering for Dier and Winks to get back into the side. I’m being tongue in cheek but we can see what the problem is. Same players same problems. The solution lies in the transfer market, nowhere else.

For those criticising Conte.

How many chances did Chelsea create through their own construction? I didn't see them create any from which didn't give them a big helping.

If Romero and Dier are there, then there's every chance we get to HT at 0-0 and as far as Conte is concerned, job done so far.

From that point you can start to grow and by the time you get to the second leg you can start to change approach slightly.

Out brain dead and substandard options prevented that from happening, ensuring that Conte had to be more braver than he would have liked to have been which meant Chelsea could create more as we left more space.

He had a game plan but the players blew it. He will want those players out the door.

It really is! Some just don’t get it.

Conte has said it over and over himself.
“We are at the start of the process going A to Z, we are right now only A or B…”
“We need to have patience”
“We need to build a solid core first and then we can build something important”
“Right now I understand the quality of Tottenham is not very high”
“The group isn’t as competitive as under Poch as at that time they were challenging my Chelsea team for the title, the level has dropped a bit”

Heck even before tonight’s game vs Chelsea he laughed when they said how do his current Tottenham team compare to Chelsea “They won the Champions League last year, we are not at that level”

People need to be patient and stop worrying Conte will leave etc, he knows the score as do FP and DL, we will sort the squad out window by window and it will take time, I’m sure we will be considerably stronger by the start of next season.

Hojbjerg turns attack into defence just before the first goal- he has two players in front of him with an easy pass, but spins round to pass back to Sanchez who gives it to Tanganga who messes up. View attachment 102816

He was horrendous today and for much of the season I really can’t see how NES and now conte keep picking him, what does he do well? He can’t pass particular well, is slow, not great stamina, doesn’t read danger, doesn’t score/create but to be fair he seems like a good guy maybe I could fix him up with my sister or something

Conte is a clever man, obviously he knew what was needed when he signed on as you say. It was never going to be a quick fix. The only thing worth being annoyed about is this game, the rest will take time.

I must say, the only thing that surprised me tonight was him bringing on Ndombele at half time after leaving him untouched in the last two games. I honestly thought we wouldn’t see him again.

As long as we don't all expect a number of miracle signings this month which is notoriously difficult to sign good quality players.

We need to understand that Chelsea are right at the top of their game right now, they have built their squad and the manager has been there long enough to have them playing their best. I know this wasn't their best eleven but my point is they are at their peak, actually that just goes to show how bloody good City must be, we on the other hand are nowhere near, we are pretty much just starting out again so like it or not we were the underdogs tonight by a margin. We can improve.

And what exactly is the "right type of signing"? Players you want, or players that FP and Conte want?

Agree, first time in his preferred position on the left and surprise surprise it's the best he's looked.
I don’t see it. I could well be wrong but to me Gill isn’t going to make it. I keep seeing him lose the ball really easily. Doesn’t have any pace and is also small and weak. I don’t know what his strengths are? Maybe his fringe?

Probably because we absolutely have nobody else. PEH Skipp and Winks is a really average pool of CMs for Conte to pick from.

Conte messed up. It was obvious from the start that Tangangalang was having a mare and that we were overrun in midfield. Just sometimes a manager needs the balls and humility to make a sub after 20 minutes.

On a slight positive, at least it was "only" one leg of a semi final, and not the final itself.

On another - it should hopefully underline that action needs to be taken, and I hope Conte doesn't let the same old plodders pull the wool over his eyes
