£200+m spent to be an embarrassment in Europe. what a humiliation for united hahahaha :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Rio just said 'I was in a squad that played in the Europa League, it's an embarrassment, you don't want to leave your house.'

Still an absolute farce that Utd get another go in the Europa League, once you're knocked out of a competition that should be it. At least they can't just focus on the league I suppose but it's still bollocks

The rules are the rules and they're mainly there to make sure there are as few dead games as possible.

I don't think they'll cope at all well with the Thursday Sunday thing, it takes some getting used to. I wouldn't fear facing them at all.

Probably a bit controversial, but I'm gonna be "supporting" the English teams tomorrow, as if they both go through it would go a long way to ensuring we keep 4 CL places, and, to be honest, I wouldn't want the distraction of facing Arsenal or Chelsea in Europe.

Yup, my current pet footballing hate. The second chance brigade post-group stage in EL..

 Says the guy who played for QPR and got relegated last season. 11 games...not even half the season. Lost 8 of those games. And had 21 goals scored against you in those games. Yeah, so playing in the Europa league was really embarrassing was it? (y)

But it is to our advantage if United Arsenal and, to a lesser extent, Chelsea have to play Thursday Sunday in the Europa league as it will adversely affect their league form.

Out of them I can only see Chelsea taking the competition seriously if they get knocked out the CL, can't say the same for Utd and Arsenal.

Maybe Lvg will be interviewed and it will all turn out to be an hilarious prank by Rio

I just read this and it's leaving me with a very painful decision! All to do with the coefficient in the Champions League.
As I'm sure most of you know - because the English clubs have been so rubbish in the Champions League in recent years, we're at risk of potentially losing that fourth place spot. Funny that the one time we get into the competition, we get further than most of them seem to do year in year out.

So do we want Arsenal to win or lose tonight?

Pros if they win - They can't beat us in the Europa and they will probably get knocked out in the last 16 anyway.

Pros if they lose - Thursday and Sunday and general humiliation Utd styleee. HAHAHAHA.

Cons if they win - they might actually go on and win the CL. 99.9% unlikely but still a possibility nonetheless.

Cons if they lose - They might beat us in the Europa and even win it, which would be pretty unbearable.

Don't get me wrong, it was a twattish thing to say...but in Rio's defence, his mind was probably on other things last season.

I tell you what's typical bullshit. Neither Arsenal or Chelsea are playing Saturday in the premier league after their Wednesday CL fixtures. Of course not. Arsenal HAVE to be on super sunday for TV because they're playing Villa and that's a massive match. And Chelsea just have to play Monday now because... because well they have to play Monday at some point and it's purely a coincidence they're playing on a Monday AFTER they play in the CL on Wednesday.

It's a fucking farce is what it is, massive preferential treatment the CL clubs get with regard to prem fixtures. The EL teams just get shit on by the PL.

Its a chicken or the egg argument.

CL teams are popular on TV, they get popular by being in CL, they get in CL by getting good schedules (and winning lots of games).

In a couple of years, you will be laughing at other fans complaining about Spurs getting preferential treatment. Right now we just gotta suck it up.
