Goons, wanted them to lose but now glad they going through.

Don't want their filth and brown envelope football anywhere near us.

As things stand Leverkusen, Olympiacos, Porto and Valencia dropping down to the Europa League. Knock out stages are going to be very tough.

Edit: Leverkusen, not Roma. Sky have their table wrong.

Have to feel for Valencia there, the player passed to the ref clearly thinking he was passing to a team mate. Have to ask why the ref is wearing light blue when Valencia are in white?

Valencia look certain to be knocked out as Gent just took the lead

I don't see how Porto, Olympiacos or Valencia are anything bit be too troubled about?

These teams aren't very good tbh, they just have big reputations.

Surely Arsenal staying in has to be a bonus. Extra games to play + injuries to deal with.

Would have been the same with the Europa League, with potential for one round more...

Also even if they did win tonight, I expected Olympiakos to put up far more resistance, they were shit.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

That did cross my mind but I kind of think that Wenger may not take the EL seriously whereas he will definitely keep on putting out his strongest lineup in the CL. I must admit that I don't know much about Greek football except that obviously Olympiakos are one of the great names. I assumed with the financial problems that they have had in Greece that the money is probably not there in the Greek league these days?

Leverkusen are a good side on their day. They went toe to toe with Barca in both ties and should have won both too.

Which means they're inconsistent...which kinda means they're generally not very good.

And now there's no chance of us facing either them or the Chavs in the Europa. Don't give a fuck really, neither team is good enough to get to the final so it's a bit meh.

Exactly this. My Gooner friends were lauding it up on a Whatsapps group, until a (Man Utd, believe it or not) supporting mate out them in their place by saying what you've just said. They'll most likely draw Barca or Bayern in the next round and get knocked out with fuck all to show for themselves. Then Wenger can focus on the 4th place trophy again.

That's helped England's Coefficient, each team qualifying for the round of 16 adds an extra 4 points
