One would have thought (if one had applied any thought at all to the matter, which clearly you haven't) that 'Sporting Director' involves altogether more than being a glorified Chief Scout. The clue is in the title, after all. And the canteen is not there solely for the use of the first team squad—or do you imagine that the Reserve and Academy players are slipped a couple of quid and sent off to the chippy for their lunch?

Comolli could hardly have been unaware of the type of food that was on offer in the canteen, and, quite frankly, if he was unaware, I would like to know why. So, clearly, it was OK by him. Is that too difficult a concept for you to entertain? If it had not been, then one might have expected him to change it.

Davids fighting with Keane, yes. So truly out of character for Edgar to fall out with his team-mates and manager. I'm sure it's never happened before. And what else?

If we had not been a club clearly on the up, in Europe, no offer, however 'dizzying', would have tempted Ramos to Spurs. He's well past the stage in his career when he's going to take over a total basket case. Which, before Jol took over, is what Spurs were. Anyone who fails to recognise and credit that is a fool.

He did, thats why he got Juande, yes you make some very good points and i really do hope they dont go down the chippy, i would imagine the kebab shop or the Macdonalds in Leytonstone.
But why are you so negative towards Commoli, i for one think he has done a good job, regardless of what you think, am i not allowed to make a point as that i finally think this club is moving in the right direction, because regardless of what BMJ done we all knew that tacticaly he did not seem to be able to cope against the bigger teams IMO. And yes there was in fighting regardless of what you may think, or maybe you know something more than the rest of us??
Where was the player unity when BMJ was having all the problems, where was the player unity when Glenda was on the rocks, where was the unity when GF was there or GG for that fact??
These players seem to be pulling together as a team, as one, not individuals, from the chairman down, you cannot deny that?? that is what i mean, i am sorry if my view is not the same as yours, and i do respect what you are saying, but i also think that you should not think for one minute that there has not been problems with diffrent people with diffrent agendas int he past.:bowdown::bowdown:

If you'd been on this forum for more than five minutes you'd know that I'm one of those who has refused to slate Comolli over his signings.

There seemed to be plenty of player unity when we were struggling at the start of the season. Not only the usual suspects came out in support of Jol, but players like Zokora and Kaboul, too. We were told (by 'Spurs insiders') that Jol had 'lost the dressing room', but Defoe burst into tears when he heard the news Jol had been sacked. I know as much as you or anyone else about the true facts of what was going on, which is to say, bugger all, but if there was any in-fighting it was between Jol, Comolli, and the Kemsley faction on the board. Mido alluded to that somewhat cryptically after he signed for Boro.

And whether or not Jol was the manager to take us forward, my position has always been that if he wasn't good enough in August he wasn't good enough in May. We may have a great manager in now (although we won't know that for sure for another year), but the way it was done was horribly botched and still leaves a very sour taste in the mouth.

I think Levy and Comolli are doing a fantastic job!

They have got in a manager who without doubt is 1 of the most sort after in europe. Levy has repeatedly made funds available to build the team, In ramos's own words whatever he asks for he gets and he can't believe how much importance the club places in the 1st team coach. Again in Ramos's own words the club are intent on building the best training complex in europe whilst continuing to provide team building funds.

We have assembled a squad envied by all except the so called big 4, we have big name international players and youth players of the highest calibre learning their trade just behind and in my humble opinion are the most progressive club in the country.

Yes Levy and Comolli made a mistake, they made a massive mistake. That was not sacking Jol last May and appointing Juande then, however we don't know the details of that and how hard they tried to do that and just maybe Ramos wouldn't commit at that stage. Also the outcry from some fans if Levy had shot Jol in the Summer would have bordered on the hysterical.

We heard a lot of talk slating the clubs transfer policy when in truth nobody on this site has any idea what the policy was when Jol was in charge in the same way that they have no idea what it is now. We won't buy players over this age and we wont pay this and that and there has to be inherent value etc etc. Well january blew that claim with the signings of woodgate and Gilberto right out of the window.

Levy and Comolli have steered the club in the right direction and put us in a position to challenge the big boys and they've done it without putting financial pressure on the club which is a very difficult balancing act, but they have done it and IMO should be praised for such.

As for the fitness anybody who regularly attends games could tell you that we are a million miles ahead of where we were pre Ramos and Alvarez. A team that played the last 20 minutes at home to blackburn at a virtual standstill and subsequently losing can now play Thursday night followed by extra-time in an energy sapping cup final and still be full of running at the final whistle.

It seems to me that all of the senior figures at the club should be praised for the work they have done and are doing, well done guys and now for some more silverware please!

Oh come on - are you serious ? Based on what ?

How many false dawns have we had ? As SS57 alluded to - we finished 5th twice in a row and surely THIS was our big season to push for top 4. It turned out that several sections of the management were pulling in quite opposite directions. I happen to think that this is a great chance of a 'real' dawn - we had defensive strength under GF and GG and attacking strength under GH and MJ but, for the first time since the mid-eighties, we seem to have both and have the best squad I can ever remember.......but.......come on....why assume that everything is pure in our Spurs garden of Eden.

Honestly, I think you'd say the same thing if Glen Roeder was our manager and we'd won 5 out of our last 6 games ![/quote]

Dont be so stupid, i dont ever remember Glenn Roeder winning 6 trophies in the last 4 years. Juande Ramos is a proven winner who has showed since he has been there that he is capable of getting the best of the players.
I think we would all agree that when Juande was installed we all thought we had a world class manager, whi was a commoli appointment, a proven winner in all senses of the word, how many players dame out in support of JOl?????? how many have come out in support of Juande,
That is what i meant by a club pulling in the right direction from the chairman down.

Of course Wendy has a fantastic record and is looking like a fantastic appointment.

However, to say they're suddenly all pulling in the same direction is complete speculation (unless you're ITK and have spoken to the board, coaches, players, doctors etc in the last few days) based on good performances on pitch.

A classic example of fans getting a little over-excited and proclaiming that everything is perfect.

And on the subject of Jol - all the players supported him to the hilt before he was sacked and support Wendy to the hilt now. Players always talk up the current manager - he's the guy who picks the team

I'm not sure that I agree with this point.

The one place where players really show support for their manager is out on the pitch. Now early doors this season when Jol was under pressure a hell of a lot of his players done a disappearing act. There were a few supporting words in the press from 1 or 2 players but there was no 'siege mentallity' as such to save the boss.

The team repeatedly failed to turn up for games, certain players looked disinterested during games and all in all we didn't look anything like a group of players who were fighting desperately to save their manager. And 1 bleak Monday night at Newcastle really summed the whole thing up.

The club pulling together, fans, players, board etc. may just be because we won on Sunday. If we'd lost I think we might have a bit of press that Chelsea have been getting over the last two days. Every picture of Berby would be him sulking, which would mean he's unhappy with us and is leaving at the end of the season. We'd be blaming the linesman for not spotting the handball, the ref for pulling play back after giving advantage and allowing a shot on goal.

But I do agree that there is a better feeling among the player and fans. The mangement look confident, and the good thing is it's mid season and we can measure our cup win with a few games that follow on from it.

Next Thursday becomes the most important game now.

We have the luxury of being able to rest key individuals and pick teams to suit our UEFA cup schedule, we are almost certain to finish 10th or 11th and this is a great position for us to be in. In a way if we were within 6 or 7 points of 4th we would have less chance of winning the UEFA so our league position is almost an unexpected bonus.

There are some people that will not be happy until Martin Jol is back as the manager. He was great, he is gone, live with it.

Easy enough to do, as long as some people can praise Ramos without taking infantile pots at Jol's record.

It was a bit like the scene from the film "Ghost" where the ghost was zapped of all energy after jumping into Whoopi Goldberg. They could hardly move.

We also played a large part of the Everton home game in this way.
