Far too much negativity, we just finished 4th for the second time in 3 years!! Jesus what an achievment on our budget, i think some of you need some perspective... We need to hope Bayern do us a favour but I am very proud of what we have achieved and expect us to carry on driving forward, we need to remember the difference between our budget and those about us!

Even if we had won the league I would still be cheering on Bayern this Saturday. Chelsea are a stain on the "sport".
A nothing club who would be exactly that without their sugar daddy. Similar to City, the "champions" of our once great game.

Fully expect Chelsea to win it though. Seems like lady luck shuns those that have their houses in order and do things correctly.

As for swapping places with City right now? Eff off. The day we become a garish plaything for an Arab playboy looking for a penis extension using money that he didn't earn is the day I stop following the game completely.

If you truly believe that this is a 50/50 match, then put some money on it, because that's sure not what the bookies think.

Bayern are massive favorites for a reason, Chelsea have bitten off more than they can chew here.

A lot of you talk without having watched Bundesliga this season, let alone the cup final last night. One of the most half-assed performances of the season from Bayern, while Dortmund were fully motivated. Bayern have cared about one thing this season with the final being held in Munich, and their efforts towards it were doubled when Dortmund beat them in the last minutes of the league game a month or so ago...The Champion's League.

They will win it. This is the German stereotype of machinery, precision, etc. The qualities Schweinsteiger embodied when he stepped up for that 5th PK vs Madrid.

Bayern 2-1 Chelsea

When you find youself 13 points ahead of your rivals with a third of the season to go, and a easier run in, but then end up finishing a point behind them it is a VERY bitter pill to swallow. The fact that we were once again in the driving seat before the Villa game yet failed to beat a truly shocking team makes it all the more worse right now.

That's a fair enough statement, if you look at it from the simplistic view of 4th being our joint best ever finish and our target at the beginning of the season.

By that logic you're correct, we should be celebrating a successful season

If you look at it from the perspective that we had a double figure lead in 3rd and were cruising to automatic qualified but squandered it to our most heated rivals and now do not have CL football even at play off level until we find out the result of this seasons final I think you can understand why some of us are a little less delighted with the end to the season.

Especially when you consider the potential ramifications failing to secure CL football could have on us. If Chelsea win and we are back in the Europa we could be struggling to keep our own best players and fail to sign the type of players we need to continue to compete at the top let alone progress from where we are now.

If you consider that even if Bayern do us a favour and win we still have the play off to contend with which could still see us in the Europa or at least mean we have to wait til the arse end of the transfer window which could see us miss out on potential targets or affect our window adversely again I think you should at least be able to comprehend why some of us are a little negative about the way events unfolded today.

Could have been worse yes, at least we have fourth and the chance of CL football is still alive but the fact we should have had third at a canter means the amount of negativity on display right now is more than understandable in my opinion,

As for our budget, do we spent that much less than Arsenal?

Ultimately, then, it's been a successful season, but a tad disappointing in that it could, and, arguably, should have been better (y)

Yeh of course I am dissapointed we dropped the points we did, but we still need to look and see what we have achieved as well. We had a very tough run of games and were very unlucky not to win the majority of them or atleast get a point in them, we are a team that is learning all the time how to deal with those situations.

Its down to Levy now to decide if we keep going in this direction with Harry or try another direction, and although it is a little frustrating we have done bloody well.

Relatively successful if Bayern win the CL, in as far as we made par for our target.

More than a tad disappointing considering the lead we squandered

No arguably about it, it SHOULD have been so much bettter

Hey you know what I am not saying I am overjoyed but i am very proud of our achievments when you see what we are battling against. I am as frustrated as everyone with the loss of such a lead but we were unlucky as i have said above, it wasnt all bad performances, in fact there were not mnay bad ones to be fair and i would also say they deserve praise for fighting back to get 4th position when it was looking doomed.

I'm pretty confident that Bayern will win, but it will be very exciting. With the players Bayern have and playing at home and all I cant see Chelsea win.

Better wait until after the champions league final, a tad disappointing, could be very disappointing after that match is finished.

Well, not really - that would be a massive disappointment, but, at the start of the season, our aim was to finish in the top four and we done that. Our aim wasn't best make it top 3, because, somewhat freakishly, a team that doesn't finish in the top 4 will win CL again. So, in terms of setting out what we set out to do, at the start of the season, we have succeeded, whatever comes form the CL final, be it ever so disappointing.

Bayern play wider than Barcelona. It's a different type of test for Chelsea, and this one is without Ramires, Terry, Ivanovic, and Miereles. Do you think they feel comfortable dealing with Gomez/Robben/Ribery/Muller/Kroos with a back four mixture of Cole/Luiz/Cahill/Bosingwa/Ferriera?

Yup...said the same as soon as they reached the final - Barca playing short passing through the centre is a totally different kettle of fish to Bayern playing down the flanks with Ribery and Robben. I can see the Chavs getting very stretched...hopefully to snapping point (y)

To be honest I think the league in general, well I mean in terms of our direct competition has been pretty weak this year. Arsenal and Chelsea were both well below par and this was a golden opportunity to finish in an automatic CL birth.

Great first half of the season but a terrible and rather gutless collapse in the middle cost us bad and I can't say I pride is the emotion that springs to mind right now.

We have a very talented squad of players and we have spent a very decent amount of money if you ask me, I don't think its a situation where we are a team of David's battling the Goliath's of the league armed just with a sling shot.

Performances against Stoke at home, Arsenal away, Norwich home and most importantly QPR away where even when they were reduced to 10 men we showed no real desire to snatch a point (which as it turns out would have been pivotal) were beyond disappointing.

I am not so sure even the finish that secured fourth is that amazing, wins against Bolton, Fulham and relegated Blackburn with a draw at Villa park is hardly the stuff of legends. (at best its doing what we should do)

I'm not saying we should dwell in self pity and spread doom and gloom, but the fact we were racing clear in third and the manner in which we slipped in to fourth in my opinion makes the season a disappointment. Hopefully Bayern will hand us a life line and Mr Levy and co will make the necessary moves in the transfer window to ensure next season is a continuation of our progress because at the end of the day that is all that really matters.

I see the game won by the superiority of BM's midfield.
Biggest problem for me is Drogba.

Aims can change as the season develops, up until very recently the aim was to win the Villa and Fulham game so that we could finish third and not fourth.
