On last night there was no Wilson, so our very effective midfield cover was not there.

Whats the odds on a 2-1 scorline on Saturday to keep the sequence running, with JD to score?

We have yet to concede more than one goal a game this season. With our attacking lineup, we should score more than one a game.

We have looked a little more shaky defensively than I would like, and certainly compared to last year, but I think that is the price you pay for being attack minded. However, when key moments have come, we have kept the opposition out. Liverpool in the final 30 minutes, West Ham didnt look like getting near an equaliser, we stopped Doncaster getting the first goal etc.

I dont think we looked particularly good defensively last night. Sounded like the defence was unorganised and unable to adapt to how doncaster lined up. Charlie never convinces me as a centre back, especially if someone like Ledders or Woody isnt there to guide him and the rest through

Not sure if anyone else has said this as I got a bit bored of reading everyone repeating each other. but...

In the last few years, it tends to be that teams who play to keep a clean sheet end up with a fairly modest goal difference, which CAN cost you at the end of a season. Whereas playing the gung-ho way we're playing, we've already got a goal difference of +6, which is why we're currently ahead of Chelsea.

Also, its a reason why we needn't panic if we concede the first goal, as the attitude of the players remains the same - keep trying to score.

I really hope we get an early goal against birmingham. if we dont, it will get VERY nervy. EVERYONE is expecting us to win in a similar way to arsenal v pompey except they are more used to it.

we shouldnt be getting carried away as so far we have needed to score at least 2 goals to win each game, which isnt something you want

what are your thoughts on this?

No clean sheet on saturday and I say we sack Redknapp and transfer list the back five, perhaps shoot one of them to make an example.

if people are seriously worried about the difference if wilson was out injured, imagine what liveprool must be feeling with torres. If wilson can avoid serious injuries, we should be fine. If he was out for around 3 weeks, o'hara could do a decent job filling in

nice to see negative rep for bringing up a worthy discussion, i almost feel disgraced to say im a spurs fan when we go on a decent run, it really goes straight to some fans heads, and as history tells us the moment it starts going tits up they are the first to jump down the throat of a scapegoat (usually a manager) and yet we moan at others for being big headed

we will never win anything worthwhile while systematically conceding every single game, all the great teams are built on defence first

attack wins you games but defence wins you championships, remember that

Funny enough, at WHL we conceded less last year than we have ever done. 4 games in, top of the league and thru to the next stage in the league cup, I see no reason to worry yet.

OK, we let in too many goals, we will pay for it when we are relegated on goal difference....

True, but we don't systematically concede every game any more than we systematically score more than the opposition in every game. At least that's a specific aim that we've achieved so far.

I take your point, but you're kinda suggesting that we're deliberately going gung-ho. We're not, but we do have an unsettled and inexperienced defence.

I think the poster is just being cautious and surely we can agree that while we've had an unbelievable start to the season we'll need to start keeping some clean sheets to grind out those 1-0 wins when we're not at our best. We're not going to be able to score 2 or more every game.

I'm loving our start, just can understand a slight note of caution for the upcoming games, but then as others have said we've got Woodgate to return too.

Cut him some slack!

Why the negative leader?

Why not - SCORED IN EVERY GAME THIS SEASON?

Lets not forget we've not been able to field our first choice defence yet. The defence that kept so many clean sheets last season.
