Headliners (who I think everybody knows anyway) aren't really my thing, other than Arctic Monkeys who I'm seeing this year already. I guess Elton John could be fun, as I wouldn't ever go and see him on his own, so this will be a good chance. Guns n Roses I just don't care about at all. There was a huge female artist who pulled out to headline apparently, which is why they're all men by the way.

Elsewhere it's pretty good. They've absolutely nailed the artist who is performing before Elton John imo. The perfect intro to him.

Haven't got word on when it'll be announced yet, but likely a few weeks away yet. Early March.
Go on tell us who the artist pre Elton is...

I can chuck in a few confirmed names if you do...

Okay, so it was Rihanna that pulled out for obvious reasons. But they’ve got Lana del Rey for the other stage now.
Phoenix another big addition

Wow, as a club we're not very good at counting are we?!
I suspect it'll get approved but you'd have thought they could have at least had some informal chats with the council first. Sounds like the council were taken completely by surprise which isn't a great look.

Council is just trying to look good. I doubt they care.

Yeah I doubt they care about the extra gig. What might piss them off a bit is if they think we've made them look a bit silly by just going ahead and booking it without even giving them a heads up.

My guess is that they knew what they were doing and went with ‘ask for forgiveness instead of permission’ knowing that the council is unlikely to force them to cancel the event.

Na it’s shite behaviour. Just communicate with the council. Makes the club look daft.
From the club completely, it is a dick move. Puts the council in a spot as well now that I think about it. They have to come out strong against this kind of rule-breaking, but ultimately the club have all the leverage really. Just bad optics from us yet again.

I'd be surprised if the club hadn't previously had a conversation with the council about whether they'd be able to hold an extra concert if the opportunity arose. The club probably had to make a quick decision about the extra date on this occasion and couldn't wait for the council to officially give it the go ahead.
