Sarr needs competition and we need a rotation option. It’s not a case of one or the other. I am sure they will both get plenty of minutes assuming Gallagher joins.

Players get injured (Bentancur), lose form (Kulusevski) and expect to be rotated (see the match the other night). There will also be lots of times when we need to change things in a match or just freshen things up.

It’s nice thinking about who our best eleven is but in reality a team is badly exposed if the difference between the best eleven and rest of the squad is significant- we saw that against Fulham.

I actually think (predict) that if Gallagher doesn't leave this window than we could revisit this one. Seems Ange is a huge fan and I also wonder as the Chelsea signings bed in further does Gallagher start featuring more off the bench.

Yes, I would be amazed if he ( personally) would fancy the move to us. It's always felt like a non starter to me but you never know I suppose.

Surely we would be wise enough to have talked to him or at least his people to find out if he would actually be happy to come before trying to make a move or diverting any serious time and attention to him.

I reckon a conversation with big Ange might change that.

Also if Chelsea force him out after not selling Maatsen/Chalobah.

Just sign Gallagher and then tell Hojbjerg he doesn't have a squad place this season. Then he'll accept his loan pretty damn quickly.

I know it’s not how we work, but honestly, if Gallagher is the one Ange wants and it solves HG issues going forward, you just have to do the deal.

Other consequences be damned. The squad is only bloated if you let it be.
