Surely Chelsea will just fuck us at the last minute here. Just because they can, and it’s us.

Hope we have another option lined up, because if PEH leaves we will be in trouble.
I don't think we'll be in trouble, when Bentancur is fit we'll have 6 CMs for 3 positions. Out of CB, CM and a forward, and I think a CM is the least important.

Chelsea are only interested in financials under new ownership. Also, even if hojbjerg leaves, I don't think we will be left short

I’d love to have Connor Gallagher - hard-working and creative, he’ll fit right in.

The only drawback is that it’s £40+ profit to help Chelsea with their FFP problem.

Its about improving our squad. Chelsea will find another 100 loopholes before being even concerned by FFP

Personally think he’d give us great options all in all.
Very strong in tackles and on the ball, fair bit of speed, good crosser and a good shot on him.
But gonna be difficult to get through.

He is okay, but not a step up. And especially the price they want
Ange wants him as a priority signing which overrides everything.

The logic is there for why we want him and how we'll evolve moving forwards.

Will now be hugely disappointed if we don't successfully conclude this deal.

If we didn't have Sarr, and Devine coming through, I'd be on board with this.

As it is he'll probably take their minutes and stop them developing

At least Brennan Johnson has attributes we currently lack, even if he's probably overpriced

I think it only happens if we accept a pretty rubbish offer from Atletico to facilitate the move. They are skint.
We are back relying on Jorge fucking mendes again
Joao felix to barca
Hojbjerg to atletico
Gallagher to spurs

makes it seem unlikely

Have to disagree on this one mate, think he would be a very clever addition and certainly an upgrade on PEH with the way we want to play. Also strengthens the midfield for when we lose Bissouma & Sarr in January/February. Would still allow us to have a midfield 3 of Bentancur, Gallagher & Maddison. Club seem confident that they will agree a deal. Obviously that depends on Hojbjerg going but that does seem a very good possibility currently.

Gallagher would be a much more exciting signing than Johnson. At the same time, there is virtually
no chance it will happen.

I think that this one makes a lot of sense, but as other posters have alluded to previously:

1. there is a v high probability Chelsea will fuck us last minute on this
2. I don’t see us having a £50m bench warmer, which may restrict Sarr’s game time

Either way, I’m much more onboard with this one than I would have otherwise been at the start of the summer, and see him more as a long term upgrade on Skipp rather than PEH. Means we won’t have to worry about HG options for the foreseeable too, assuming that he does well and that we give him a licence to play like Palace did.

(EDIT: In Europe...) after 4 HG players the rest effectively count as foreign unless club trained.

17 foreign + 4 HG + 4 club trained.

If we had 17 foreign and 5 HG
, the 5th couldn’t be registered.

We need club trained players.

Gallagher is a significant step up on Pierre. Bentancur could be playing the 6 role when he returns, which he does really well in. This would be a great move for us. Gallagher seems to have all the traits to slot into Ange's Spurs.

We don’t have Devine this season, and Sarr can’t play every minute, plus there are injuries throughout a season. I think Gallagher makes perfect sense, especially in a high energy midfield.
