So based on just rushing through the last few pages of chat, he's basically this windows Dybala in everyone's opinion.

If we didn't have Sarr, and Devine coming through, I'd be on board with this.

As it is he'll probably take their minutes and stop them developing

At least Brennan Johnson has attributes we currently lack, even if he's probably overpriced

If we are giving new contract to Sarr, means he is here to stay. If Gallager comes in, its probably bad news for Skipp. Gallagher is more aggresive than Skipp in offense as well as defensively. If we get Gallagher, I feel we wont push Bentancur much so Skipp will get his game time. But next season, he could be on chopping block.

He is okay, but not a step up. And especially the price they want
Depends on the price they're asking. Reports are around £45M which for a young HG (and England international) attacking midfielder with circa 100 PL appearances all sounds pretty reasonable to me.

That’s the thing re Skipp, he’s certainly a bit of a weak link currently but he’s one of our only club trained players and next year if we get into the CL 4 of our 8 HG players would need to be club trained. Assuming we would register a full squad. So we can’t really afford to get rid If him but yes a loan might be the best move if Connor comes.

Tbh I completely get why Ange wants Gallagher. For me tho I would have much preferred we had put the Gallagher and Johnson money together and went for a seriously good attacking target. £80-90 mil could have potentially got someone of top quality for our front line which for me currently is the weakest part of the squad from a first 11 perspective.

Gallagher I think will do really well for Ange and I’ll be happy to get him but there is an element of him being a bit of a luxury considering how stacked CM is in comparison to other positions.

Anyway, I’m not against the signing at all and I think he will do well for Ange. So it is a positive move regardless of my feelings on our overall business.

Yeah agreed on pooling the money together. I have a feeling there is no real opportunity in the current market in that sense unfortunately. If there was I think Chelsea, Utd or Liverpool would also have gone for it. Saudi also disrupted things. Had Neymar not left PSG they may have not moved on Kolo Muani.

I suspect the contingency plan mentioned by WLB in the ITK thread is letting GLC go, but I do wonder if Fulham might approach us for Skipp if they sell Paulinha.

I’m not sure it matters. Their owners will do what they want and Poch will have to suck it up. He didn’t know Palmer was coming in and looked pretty pissed off about it. I can’t see him taking Gallagher going too well either!

Ah yeah. He isnt lasting long there. But i dont think any manager would. Boehly doesnt understand the game. He’s playing fifa on easy negotiation mode using the takeover chip every window & signing whoever he wants without a care in the world for the manager.

I think £45m is a fair price for him. Good age, good player, HG. And we don't really have anyone like him in the squad. If that's the price we should do it, even if we can't shift PEH.

This deal shouldnt depend on PEH leaving - it is long term planning, PEH will either leave now, in Jan or next summer at latest. Gallagher may be priced at closer to 100m after a fantastic season with Poch, so we really should be getting him in now regardless.
