They don’t really play the same position though.Homegrown aside, Gallagher would be a downgrade from Hojbjerg.

I've seen some bad takes on this site but this is great. Are you his mum?Homegrown aside, Gallagher would be a downgrade from Hojbjerg.
They giving him away for free then? It's pointless comparing the figure Chelsea would like, because we've known from Day 1 ITK that we wouldn't pay anywhere near £50m.I’d say the biggest difference between Adam Wharton and Conor Gallagher is about £25-30m..
As the saying goes; you pay your money, you take your choice. They giving him away for free then? It's pointless comparing the figure Chelsea would like, because we've known from Day 1 ITK that we wouldn't pay anywhere near £50m.
Prob £10m

I think they’ll have to. If they don’t, they’ll risk losing him for nothing which only makes their FFP situation even worse.Think this one's dead for this window and then it's a question of whether Chelsea offer him a new contract.
I think they will.
I reckon we will continue to monitor him but I also think we aren't so pressed about it. I really don't see us spending £25/30 mil on Nusa then getting Gallagher for £40 mil in one window, not that Chelsea will even come down to that price. I'm also not convinced he is necessarily the same priority he might have been in summer due to Sarr performing as well as he has. Personally I still struggle to see PEH going this window but ether way if we do bring in a CM I reckon it will be prospect signing rather then a bigger money buy.Think this one's dead for this window and then it's a question of whether Chelsea offer him a new contract.

I think that’s largely right. Though I’d be inclined to shift PEH if we get the chance anyway. Once people are back (end by of the month?) we’ll be well stocked in his position.I still think that it's an opportunist deal, we believe he may be available for well under market value due to Chelsea's financial circumstances.
I think that's why we've shifted focus. If we get Nusa we move on Gil, and if Chelsea crack we get Gallagher and move on PEH.
If they don't I wouldn't be surprised if we just went for Emerson and moved PEH on.
Just feels like Ange has a clear vision for the squad and is happy to accept either the available or the 'value' player to speed up the process.
My thoughts too, I think we might go back in for Kelly then as well.I think that’s largely right. Though I’d be inclined to shift PEH if we get the chance anyway. Once people are back (end by of the month?) we’ll be well stocked in his position.
Gallaghers value is only going to go down too. Might be better to look at him in the summer
David Ornstein:
EXCL: West Ham reach agreement with Man City to sign Kalvin Phillips - loan until summer, option to buy. Personal terms fine, #WHUFC covering full wage. Juventus exploring but no agreement to date. Flying back to UK with #MCFC squad @TheAthleticFC #Juve https://theathletic.com/5165655/2024/01/23/kalvin-phillips-west-ham-transfer-manchester-city/
Phillips probably on loan to West Ham, so it seems we don't hold much interest there.
Odd, because he played pretty well in Leeds system, which is not too far off what Ange is trying to do.What a come down for the lad. Never saw him as a player suited to our style of play.

Now I am intrigued.Ange opted out, has a backup plan, but needs to vacate the Viking. The Connor deal appears doubtful unless Chelsea takes proactive steps.
