I hate this term "small time". It's a shit saying often used to demean showing passion against your rivals. Except that's what footballs about, or at least what it used to be.I think we should just leave it, celebrating finishing above your rivals is small-time mentality and as a club and fanbase we are way passed that, let them be the ones that obsess over us not the other way round.
It's why I think Arsenal are so souless recently. For so long they stood on a high horse and called us small time for caring about the rivalry. Then they get mad because our players show more fight and passion out on the pitch than theirs. What do they expect? They keep saying this is just another game and it's basically meaningless. Then when the players go out and act like it's just another game and ours come out like hellish lightning they only have themselves to blame. We went the whole week going on about how we were desperate for a result and the players mirrored how we felt.
Just like this year only a few weeks ago West Ham fans were absolutely hellbent on giving it to us for our last visit to their place. Some of our lot decided to trot out that whole "small time", "they're beneath us" cart and look how that turned out. They shoved "small time" up our asses with no lube. Because they cared more than we did and the players felt it and reflected it.
I usually agree with what you say around here @Shadydan but I couldn't disagree more on this.
