Globally footballers are shitter now than they were 20+ odd years ago. You can name 5/6 genuenly great current players. Back then there were loads, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Figo, Zidane, Del Piero, Totti, Batistuta, Klivert, Raul etc etc

The era of star players born from 1992-98 is beyond pathetic. The fact that Kane is arguably the best born in 6 years is kind of a joke and the huge talent glut screwed up recruitment for a lot of clubs including ours. We spent our money on a bunch of lemons from 17-21, but part of it was that this entire generation of players sucked so I don’t actually blame Levy as much as I used to.

I wanted Arsenal to win the league this season.

There, I said it.
Me too and I felt dirty about it.

City are the enemy of football and as Churchill said about Stalin ‘if Hitler invaded hell I would at least give a favourable mention to the devil in the house of commons’

  • We’re spending enough money to compete for top four, that isn’t the problem.
  • Hojbjerg is our best midfielder, probably even once Bentancur is back from injury.
  • Romero really isn’t that good. Too rash and unpredictable to be a top defender in most systems.
  • Our fans are toxic and it plays a noticeable part in our struggles.

The only way for Daniel Levy to take any responsibility is for him to be the new manager.

Hard to say, the game has evolved a lot since then and there’s less time and room for fancy moves these days. Teams are much better organized.

yeah but even the defenders were better Nesta, Canavaro, Cafu, Robbie Carlos, Thuram, Desalliy etc.

Maybe it more organised. Boring though

Controversially I actually think the opposite is true. My view is they the general standard is improved so the "best" players don't stand out as dramatically as before.

We praise Ledley too much for being Spurs through and through. He didn't have the opportunity to reject bigger clubs because he was never fit enough.

Also, having a season ticket for a football club is a terrible use of your money and time. And travelling to away games regularly seems so depressing (appreciate those who do it though).

People obsess over which formation we play and how defensive or attacking said formation will be. It’s all about what is conveyed by the coach, not the formation. If 343 is a defensive formation I must have imagined Man City using it regularly this season and dominating

I'll go further and suggest that fitness and physicality has even further taken over from technique and self expression. Other than Messi, the purported best players in the world are more optimised athletes, like Mbappe, Ronaldo, Bale, Haaland etc. You used to get loads of genuinely breathtaking footballers, like Kaka, Baggio, Laudrup, Hoddle, Gullit, etc etc.

I honestly think the fans will flick a switch once Levy is gone. It's all pent up frustration from the last 10 years. Very powerful for any new manager that's there when the change happens. Will be reminiscent when of when Newcastle ridded themselves of Ashley.

Not quite. For all Levy's scattergun approach to football, we've never been deliberatly asset stripped and sent into the Championship. Ashley held Newcastle fans in contempt.
