With the economy in meltdown and money almost impossible to borrow I got to thinking as to how our chairman will be approaching the forthcoming transfer window.

We have in many ways been spoiled recently as we have grown accustomed to spending big on transfer purchases. But with massive capital projects like the new stadium and training complex on the horizon, might this be the time to tighten our belts and consolodiate?

On the flipside, we have the Keane/Berbatov money burning a hole in our pocket and a new management set-up in place keen to bring in new blood. Coupled with this, a number of clubs (West Ham, Portsmouth etc) are in dire financial do-do. Might now be the time to raid these clubs for a bargain or three?

We all love seeing new players arrive in the transfer window but just wondered how people thought General Levy might be budgeting for the future...

Obviously I don't really know how Levy will be budgeting for the future. I personally hope our big spending days are closed for a while unless someone special becomes available.

We've got a huge amount of talented players: Lennon, Dos Santos, Huddlestone, Bale and Bentley who need to come into their own.

We do have the Berbatov and Keane money and with Campbell possibly returning before the end of the season we will need a new striker.

I wouldn't be against us buying the likes of Diarra, Arshavin or possibly Ashton (if cheap) but I want Harry to get the best out of what we have rather than our club constantly trying to buy improvements.

A defensive midfield player and centre back and possibly a goalkeeper if Gomes doesn't improve. Should be able to do that for £15 - 20 million. Considering the £50 million we got for Keane and Berbs this is still being fairly prudent.

Why have you named yourself after the old Blackburn caretaker manager?
