Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is weighing up an audacious £12 million move for Liverpool defender Daniel Agger, according to the Herts and Essex Observer.

Agger, 29, is set to leave the club this summer with some reports claiming that the Dane has asked his manager, Brendan Rodgers, to let him leave. Agger was not first-choice last season following the signing of Mamadou Sakho from Paris Saint-Germain, plus the new arrival of Dejan Lovren seems to have almost forced Agger’s hand.

Daniel Agger reportedly desperate to leave Liverpool

He has been linked with Barcelona for a while and has turned them away several times in the past, but now finally, Agger looks likely to leave this summer.

It could take around £12 million for Liverpool to say goodbye to Agger and Pochettino, who took over at Spurs earlier this summer, may make a shock move for the Dane.

It is well known that Pochettino is looking at options to improve his defence after Tottenham’s embarrassing collapses in the big games last season. Pochettino knows he must improve the back line to be in with a chance of finishing in the top four and Agger could be next on his list of targets.

Would love Agger, has a mistake in him but all footballers do, even the best defenders. At £12m he could be a great squad member for 3/4 years.

Not any better than kaboom, both as injury prone as each other so no thanks, might as well offer kaboom a pay as you play deal.

With his injury record?

This is surely just 2+2=5 anyway. It's been widely suggested that he wants out, therefore Spurs must want him!

Always thought he was hugely overrated. He can hit a ball but that's about it. I hope we stay well clear.

NO thanks! Not a good example for younger players because of all of his tattoo's. I know we currently have players with a lot of tattoo's, but Agger looks like a prisoner because of it. We should not sign him. So many other good defenders out there.

Not sure who for a price we can afford and who will come to us. Agger would be a good solid player for us. Obviously his injury record is concerning and would understand if we didn't sign him for this reason alone. However if we think he is over this then why not. I was a dawson fan up until last season. He is a great servant to the club and kaboul just isn't reliable enough. Vertonghen needs a good strong defender up beside him. Agger fits the bill. Who else?

Him and Dawson could form a perfect pairing. Strong leaders, but slow as shit.
