Younes Kaboul and David Button both played 90 minutes of international football over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Defender Younes was in action for France Under-21s as they defeated their Dutch counterparts 2-1 in the first of three friendly matches in Sweden.

Young goalkeeper Button, who made six starts for our Reserve side last season, was between the sticks as England Under-19s defeated their Polish counterparts 2-0 in Minsk.

It was the first of three European Championship Elite qualifiers coming up over the next week, with Serbia and hosts Belarus next up.

Younes and his side, meanwhile, have games with Portugal and hosts Sweden next up on their schedule.

Could he be the man who will replace George Bush or even unseat the mighty Robbo:shrug:

Oh, so Kaboul is still alive and well then, that's a relief.

Where is Button in the pecking order at the moment? Robinson, Cerny, Alnwick? Button? I would imagine he will have to spend a couple of years on loan to get anywhere near our first team, and by that time, we might have a world class 22/23 year old keeper who will be there for years.

I think Button currently ranks fifth among our keepers, whether he moves up the pecking order depends on whether Alnwick stays, or if he doesn't whether he is replaced or Forecast steps up to number three; or alternatively on whether he can displace Forecast as number four.

It is difficult to arrange decent loans for keepers, as clubs usually only want cover; Rob Burch wore track suits shiny up and down the country without seeing action. Button has already had a similar experience at Rochdale.

But the club have him on a ridiculously long contract so they clearly see him as a long term prospect.
