Daws Calls For Support

On the OS today, Daws has come out and said that he wants the crowd at The Lane to get behind the team and to really be that 'twelfth man'. I am not going but really wish I was because I know, that I for one, would really get behind the team, signing and cheering and chanting.

I am praying that the atmosphere on Sunday is white hot and that we have the place rocking, I want to try and spread the message as much as possible to other fans, all the ones who will be attending any of the last matches of the season that we have to do our part in helping the team to finish in the top four.

So, anyone who is going, do your best, no matter how things are going, encourage those near you, lead the chants, do whatever you can to create the atmosphere that the team can feed off of. If you aren't going but know someone who is, make sure they know how lucky they are to be going and that they need to really be loud as there are plenty of people who are not going who would be glad to go and sing their hearts out. Encourage them to be loud and proud of their team.

After all, every fan wants their team to win don't they? So everyone, make sure you, or those you know do their part. Bring flags and banners, confetti even, anything they can do to boost the lads confidence. Break out a whole load of fake ginger beards if you can like someone suggests in another thread. Do anything at all that will help improve the atmosphere. Cheer no matter what, even if we go behind. Ignore the missed place passes and shout even louder. I want Citeh fans to go away thinking, 'Shit me, now that's what I call supporting your team!'.

Please people, lets not be our own teams worst enemy. The moaning and groaning and swearing at the players or booing does no-one any favours.

I'd love to be going to this match. I'd certainly do my bit.

Unfortunately I can imagine there being a tense atmosphere to start with, followed by plenty of hostility as soon as Adebayor scuffs a shot, or misses a half-chance.

Agree with the sentiment but this sort of thread is futile (not this one specifically but ones just calling for support). Doesn't change the majority's actions. unfortunately, I doubt we'll see consistent great support at WHL again.

Completely agree playboypaul.

Unfortunately we have a growing number of people who call themselves fans but are really spectators who demand to be 'entertained' and feel justified in showing their displeasure when they dislike the quality of 'entertainment' on offer. In extremis, these are the pricks who think that their ticket price justifies booing.

The 1882 Movement has it right. Anybody who is at the game should sing for the shirt. The fans have a part to play and it should be in inspiring the team to victory. If they don't want to do that then they should stay at home and moan at their TV; I'm sure that there are many real fans who would happily take their place.

I've never booed or abused any of our players at games, I just don't think it helps. I can totally understand why people get fed up and do it, they've paid good money to see overpaid prima donnas, but those overpaid prima donnas work on a confidence basis. I've played football in front of plenty of crowds, some big, some not so, and it can get into your head. Even if it's just opposition fans jeering you it really does affect your game. I know people say you should rise above it and have the mental fortitude to withstand it but not all people are built the same way and we certainly look like we have a few "confidence players" in our squad.

We need the same atmosphere we had against United at home, the fans were brilliant that night. :D

Daws is spot on. The idiots need to man up and support the team.

SIX CUP FINALS TO GO! Let's cheer us to victory, stop fucking booing and jeering our own players. And stop the tense feeling at WHL... it doesn't do the players any favours.

We really do need to be that "12th Man" that they talk about. Let's do it!

Did I read somewhere that dempsey said they felt the lane was tense and I think that's spot on.
Every game is a pressure game and we all need to get over it.

Yep.

Dempsey could probably sense that fans don't rate him. And when I say "sense" I mean he can probably hear the fans telling him to "f off! you see you next Tuesday!"

We should get the word out via twitter. Try and spread the word amongst all the fans on there. Any ideas at what the # can be to get it trending?

#SingToWinTottenham #COYS #THFC #cheertheteamspurs

Something like that? When we hit upon a good idea, we should get it out there on twitter straight away.

the game is won and lost on the pitch, theres nothing the fans can do about it. Too many of our players not doing it at the moment. Our fans singing there hearts out in basel couldnt stop Adeboyer acting like a cock when he was taking his peno!. Sorry daws but the players need a kick up the arse more than the fans do.

Lets get 'em trending.

Our only hope of the atmosphere being good is that sometimes, from the off, we get up for big games. This is a massive game. Love the positivity in this thread, I wish I was going.

True. And false.

It's self-evident that fans don't score goals or make passes or tackles. But a home crowd fully behind the team can inspire the players and at the same time intimidate the opposition. Conversely, a home crowd that bitches about every little thing that it doesn't like and gets on the team's back can have exactly the opposite effect.

The crowd has a part to play. It should be a positive part. Sing for the shirt irrespective of what is happening on the pitch.

I think the atmosphere will be rocking on Sunday, usually is pretty good for big games but we've also had a week and a half off while City look tired, and likely won't have Silva. If the crowd and the team is all over them from the start, we could put them to the sword. Must score early.

Why don't more people join SC and read these threads. It'll help spread the movement.
