If the next manager thinks he can get Dele focused on the pitch, then he should be staying.

He has the ability to beat players for fun, can create and score goals.

We won't be able to replace him as a home grown player (and club trained?)

I dont get how people want him gone. We are in the process of rebuilding our squad and need a squad - are you saying he isnt even good enough as a squad member? what the hell... i wont even base it on todays performance as it was against a poor Wolves team but we are 6th in the in the table not 2nd - dont think we are flush with cash so i dont think we are in a position to just get rid of our good ones in the hope we will get better.

Its about prioritisation - prioritise getting the deadwood out first the ones we must get rid of - Dele doesnt fall under that category.

I agree. If we had an upgrade waiting in wings I'd be all for selling him, he's objectively been pretty poor over the last 2+ years. However, there are several players I'd be looking to move on before Dele. I put him in the "see how he does under the next manager" category along with several others.

There’s a lot going on in there isn’t there?

Something isn’t right with him.

Disagrees because I’m concerned about him. Some of you are weird.

He's always like that in interviews, usually quite softly spoken and shy and he tends to look inwardly as it were before giving answers.

He was class today. Everything he tried had a purpose

And this is the main point for me.

Too often we see Dele doing his flicks and tricks without any forward thinking as to where the ball needs to go. Today was a good performance, nothing more, nothing less. Outside of his flair and creativity (which we haven't seen much of) he doesn't get enough credit for his defensive contribution. He consistently win the ball back up the pitch and he doesn't given the opposing players a moment to rest.

But if he continues to play with purpose and knowing what his responsibility is then I could be convinced that he has a role in our squad.

I don't care how good he was today, and he was ok not outstanding, I want him gone in the summer.

He's got a poor attitude behind the scenes and he turned it in under the last manager.

We are in the typical new manager Ali bounce, where he will play well for half a dozen games and then revert to type.

Thanks for passing on the ITK

I'm more impressed when he drops deep and gets involved then when he is invisible for most of the match just to score a goal. Very good in last few games.

What other reason would there be?

He's been shit for over 2 seasons, there is NO reason to keep him. None.

No he hasn’t.

He had injuries under Poch and then Mourinho used him as a scapegoat.

He’s dropped off the right level but he’s not even 26 so writing him off is stupid.

The biggest thing you aren’t considering is the position/role he plays in and how hard it is to find quality players who can do that job.

I think you’ve been duped by Mourinho but you wouldn’t be alone there.

How hard do you try at work when your boss is a prick and keeps telling you you're shit?
Dele has been here long enough for everyone to know what he can do. Jose picked him out from day 1, as he has some ball player at every club in recent years.
I imagine Dele did say fk it and stop trying as there was no point, he wasnt gonna get in no matter what he did imo.
Bit of rewriting of history there. Dele had been poor for a while under Poch and there were many calling me for him to be dropped. Mourinho actually came in and seemed he wanted to build team around him. Dele was dropped because he wasn’t playing well enough for quite some time. Having said that I still think Jose went too far and should have been looking for a way to get him back to form.

Can this go back onto talking about Dele rather than other posters.

Some people like Dele, some don't. You can at least respect people's opinions even if you don't agree

Maybe just maybe,

He’s over his off the field troubles

He’s had a tough few months and years

1 - the manager he likened to a father figure left, poch was good at helping dele off the pitch

2 - his long time girlfriend left him claiming he played too virtual games and dedicated a lot of time to it, she alluded to an obsessive personality or something

3 - violently robbed

4 - injuries and a lot of them sometimes it takes a while to trust your body again he also seems to have lost of that muscle he put on which is good!

5 - streaming and off field antics - he did seem to be going a bit mad with the modeling and online gaming but slowly he seems to me cutting these back and maybe just maybe he’s starting to come around.

Today wolves were bad but he worked his bollocks off he defended and set the tone for our pressing so many times he gave us outlet and most importantly he can hold the ball up, it gives us someone to play into.

What the fuck does this even mean? He was signed whilst Poch was manager, and has only played under him and Mourinho prior to Mason taking over.

You've based this solely on his experience with a manager who clearly treated him unfairly, and you're assuming he will do the same under every future manager.

It's lazy thinking. Really fucking lazy thinking.

Everything seems to move through him, and he’s always looking for the ball. I think this is why Jose just wasn’t the right fit for the group of players. I just don’t think dele suited how Jose wanted to play.

Seems Dele was dropped to accommodate Ndombele who has now been dropped to accommodate Dele
