Dare I say two of our best performances this season, City and Liverpool at home - have both come with Dele playing in midfield.

The last 3 managers have completely disrergarded him and there is clearly a reason for that. However i still can't help but think with a run in the team and an arm round his shoulder he has a lot to offer.

However if Conte has no interest in having him in the squad then i am behind whatever decision he comes to.

I suspect he will shine wherever he goes
I'm not sure he will shine, perhaps for 5-6 games but no longe than that,. Something has been lost from his game and I'm not sure he will ever get it back. Can see him playing in the US in 2 years as he will not want to drop down to the championship here.

Dele does not fit the 3-4-3 as he is not good enough playing as a 10, and is not any good in a double pivot

If we play 3-5-2 with two roving CMs either side of a deep lying playmaker then Dele could be good in one of the roles Højbjerg and Skipp played against Leicester (which is exactly the position he shone in against Liverpool).

That said, Conte obviously disagrees, so let's move him on.

What is Ali worth ?
His a proven goal scorer, English, 25 surely for Newcastle even if they are going to get regulated he would be ideal to build a team around to come back up?

Should have sold him 2 years ago when it became apparent that Jose wouldn't get the best of him. When he stopped performing under Poch you could at least point to a new manager possibly helping. After an initial response under Jose he went back to his old ways and should have been sold in summer 2020. It just seems to be Levy who wants to keep him and why we didn't sell him last summer either. I can't imagine Paratici is reluctant to sell.

True, but loads of people were slagging off Levy for selling Dele before we'd even thought about it, saying that Jose would be gone within 12 months and Dele would be back to normal by then

Is there actually a psychological condition where people don’t grow up and like stay stuck mentally at 16. Cause if there is I think this guy has it. He’s so immature it’s actually a bit weird.

Arrested Development? "the stoppage of physical development, emotional development or mental development before reaching adulthood"

If we'd sold every player that Mourinho wouldn't get the best out of we'd be left with Kane, Son and PEH ?

In all seriousness, he needs to play for someone whose style suits his ability to arrive in the box. He is essentially a second striker that doesn't offer much in build-up play. And there aren't many (any?) top sides that play that way. His ego might not like it but his list of suitors are more likely to be bottom half clubs.

I don't blame Levy for being hesitant in selling prize assets that Mourinho didn't want. After all he has a chequered history of discarding players that have gone on to perform at other clubs.

As for going to Dele moving on, I think he would do really well at Southampton as a second striker. They play a 442 but with a high press. He would be free to just press to from the front and get on the end of things. Shame they have no chance of getting near his wages or transfer fee.

Perhaps Mr Levy looks on Dele, as an example of how to spend £5 million, and increase the value of that investment, substantially. Might explain his reluctance to sell... Just a thought !!

You obviously don’t follow his social media. The guy posted a video of his facing changing with animals ( while we were playing ) do you think that’s normal behaviour for a 25 year old with millions of followers ?
Unfortunately yes, this is the world we live in now...

It’s TikTok, most people on there do it, they’re just having fun. No development issues there

Sorry he just comes across as unbelievably immature in all the content I’ve seen. I’m not against people having a laugh obviously. Look at someone like Lucas it’s clear he can have fun, but it’s also clear when it’s time to get serious he does. I just don’t get that impression from Dele.

This happens a lot with athletes. Everyone around them tells them there shit don't stink to stay close and reap the benefits of said players contract and being associated with em. Imagine being 18 years old and being voted PFA young player of the year twice in row, bagging in goals, being told you are the new England wonderkid, the future of England, all your friends tell you, you're the best, you have a model girlfriend, getting billboards and TV ads being paid millions. You'd think you've made it, why would you need to put in anymore work, you've reached the pinnacle. Then when it starts going downhill, it can't be you thats the problem, you haven't changed anything, been following the same routine. It's unfortunate but he was a star that burned bright and fast for his own good. Look at Kane, he had to work for every opportunity he got, go on multiple loans to teams in the lower league. Fight tooth and nail to make it. Even when he has reached the top that's not enough, he wants that goal record and won't stop till he gets it. That's the difference I think, Kane blocked out all that other bullshit other than trying to be the best. It seems like Dele just got caught up believing he's the best, his shit don't stink, no one tried to push him to that next level and just got complacent. It happens but for his own sake, he needs to get that harsh reality check of going to Newcastle or a new environment he's not comfortable in to get that flame back. In baseball trades happen all the time for players that are underperforming because they might need a change of scenery and you'd be surprised just how often those trades tend to work out. Sometimes at least for myself I need a proper kick in the ass to get myself going when I get complacent.

I don't mind him being on TikTok, Twitter and so on... but it's about timing, picking the right things to post and behave in a way that signals that football is your job and that you have an employer to represent. Especially when you have thousands or millions of followers.... he should learn from Jan Vertonghen. He's even classy and mature when not playing for us.

He probably looks at people that post on internet forums the same way as you look at people posting TikToks.
