Feels very odd that Dele's going. Like the end of an era. There really aren't many players left from those early Poch days now. Just Kane, Dier and Lloris, I think.

He's always been a mercurial talent. Even at his best he was often infuriating, while at his worst he was still capable of moments of immense skill that very few players can pull off.

I know he get's stick for being lazy, distracted, etc. but I've always got the impression that his heart is in the right place and he's a good person, if a little immature for his age. I think he really did make an effort to make it work in the last couple of years too, but for whatever reason it just hasn't clicked for him.

I really do hope he can turn it around as he's shown glimpses of his best only a few weeks ago. Would love to see Dele firing on all cylinders again (provided he doesn't do it against us) and I'll be watching Everton (or Newcastle :cautious:) games to root for him.

Best of luck, Dele!! :)

Normally, when a player leaves I couldnt give a shit about them, but I sincerely hope he pushes on and does well.

Assuming he goes to Everton obviously (a club I have a bit of a soft spot for - big club forced to live with noisy, obnoxious neighbours) if he goes to Newcastle, fuck him!

Can't tell if Matt Law is simply thick or just a massive ****. Probably a combination of the two.

Does he seriously think that Paratici would negotiate a deal where Everton would effectively get Dele Alli completely free if he doesn't hit 20 appearances this season? Levy was apparently there with Kenwright all day too - absolutely zero chance he signs off on anything that that.

There will be mountains of clauses baked into this - if Everton stay up, if he extends his deal, if he scores X number of goals. Any journos that focus on the free transfer part and completely ignoring the 'potential 40m' part are just being willfully ignorant and have it in for us.

If anything we're doing Everton a favour to get around FFP but Matt Law is using it as a stick to beat us with and getting all of the Twitter gimps excited.

"SO NOW EVERTON CAN SELL HIM IN THE SUMMER WHEN HE DOESN'T HAVE 20 APPEARANCES!! LOLLL SPURSS ARE DUMB"

Was gonna comment but nothing I say will get to the point quite like the top reply to his tweet

He’s doing his medical at Everton right now. He’s not going to “do a Willian” is he!?!?

Sad day but good luck to him. One of the most exciting English talents to emerge in years. Did more in a few years than most players do in a lifetime

Just had a lovely reminisce about dele for a few minutes there, thinking about his highlights and the contribution he made to our most recent spell as a true contender.
watching the Amazon clip of him and mourinho is so relevant now. “Don’t end up with regret”
Sad that it’s come to this, no one to blame but himself but sad nonetheless

He was a special player for us.

This man is so impossibly stupid & never misses an opportunity to have a jab at us. Baffles me why we continue to give him info.

I have never seen a player’s form drop off so dramatically as with Dele. I hope more than anything he finds some happiness as he strikes me as quite a troubled soul.

Based on what I've read on Reddit, it wouldn't surprise me if some (including the circle Rob was talking about) have been fed some red herrings to suss out the leaks.

will always have been involved in some of my favourite moments of being a spurs fan... massive shame what's happened he should have gone on to be one of our legends but I feel he will fade even further after he no doubt has a fast start at everton.

Best of luck to Dele. I really wanted him to turn it around with us, but it just hasn't worked out.

I think he's been one of the players most affected by the tumult at the club since Poch's last season, in terms of being played out of position, not having the same sort of creativity in midfield, and then not getting a good run of games after Mourinho dropped him against Everton (I thought he did OK under Mason when he had a few games though). To be fair though, he had lost that spark a while before Mourinho dropped him.

Hopefully he can get the spark back and be fit into a system that better suits his game. It seems like the best decision for all involved, but I really hope he can come good again (just not against us). He's quite a unique player and has given us some really special moments.

It would be interesting to know what Conte was thinking after the Liverpool game, as although I thought Dele did well, he must have seen something to not want to try him in a three in the middle again.

Feel a bit sad about this, but he and the club needed to part ways.

Think linking up with Lampard could be good for him for obvious reasons and I have a feeling he’ll do well there. Sometimes you need a change of scenery to get the juices flowing again.

Whatever happens though, selling him was absolutely the right thing to do. Even if he somehow manages to get back close to what he was 3 years ago.

I wonder if a bit of the delay is us wanting to put together a nice farewell video for him

Best for both him and the club. A shame how things have taken a massive downturn. Probably needs to look at himself for the most part but also think he was a victim of his own success. Came here and almost hit the ground running and could argue for someone quite young, in hindsight maybe needed to be managed more carefully from a physical point of view (especially with Poch's tough trainig sessions) but at the same time he was doing so well, hard to leave him out.
