Did we beat an ageing Milan team?

That'll be the argument of most gooner scum that now believe they are probably the best team in Europe for beating Barca last night.

Fact is guys that for the starting 11's the other night in the San Siro - Milan's average age was 29.91 and ours 27.00. By the time substitutions are taken into account the average ages changed to 28.27 for them and 27.09 for us. Not a lot in it i think u'll agree.

Whatever is said and done, and however hard the gooners try and take the gloss off our performance - WE BEAT AC MILAN IN THE SAN SIRO!!

That's what the records will show. Now we just have to finish the job at WHL (fingers and toes crossed), so enjoy the moment fellow yids.

Exactly. We'll see how things go when the boot's on the other foot, I can't see them coming away from the Nou Camp with anything myself.

arsenal may of beaten barca but they were totaly outplayed for the entire game
plus barca scored a legit goal that was not given along with messi having a very rare poor game , i cant see anything other than barca smashing arsenal in the nou camp. let them have there 3 weeks of fame

If Arsenal can beat Barcelona, so can we.

After watching last night's game I felt exactly that.

Barca were very nervous of Walcott in the first half and I suspect that two speedy players like Bale and Lennon would scare them a lot more. Also, IMHO, their weak link is Valdez, who let in a stupid first goal thereby giving Arse anal courage to fight back for the second.
Hopefully we'll be given the chance to find out in the following round.

We beat top of Serie A AC MILAN AT THE SAN SIRO!

No excuses by anyone, that is a fantastic victory and one of the best for any team this season.

And btw, if we got Barcelona, I now believe we could possibly beat them. Bale and Lennon would absolutely ruin Alves and Maxwell and I believe we would hit them hard on the break.

Barca have dipped in form lately, Messi included (yes I know he's scored hatricks but he's done them while not being at his best) and Arsenal played them at the right time. Barca now have 3 weeks to recover and put them in their place.

As for us v Milan, I don't care what anybody says. Nobody gave us a sniff when we drew Inter in the group stage, and Milan drew us in the last 16 and their manager said we were their preferred opponent as we were the easiest. This is a season of sticking it to the old guard and showing the world that we are the Tottenham and we are the best, we are the Tottenham so fuck all the rest!

I haven't seen the game yet but I think we're every bit as good as Arsenal. And although I don't like Peter Crouch, I think he would cause pandemonium against Barcelona. And some of these European outfits don't seem to know what do do when faced some old fashioned wing play.

Great post, repped. Its definetly time to show some teams out there that they're not as great as their history suggests, which is the only thing left for them. IMHO there is no team out there that we cant beat on our day.

Comaprisons with Arse's victory last night somewhat moot.

I'd say they got a lucky win at home against the world's best side whereas we won away in front of a capacity crowd at the world's most successful side with half a dozen of our top players unavailable........

.....but anybody can beat anybody over 90 mins. Over two legs is a different matter and we're in a much much better position

yeah after all we beat Arsenal at the Emirates so that makes us better than Barca right?

Lucky for Barca they don't have to play WBA or Newcastle

Arse did well for 5 mins, thats all, and messi was poor.
I think the subbing of Villa was a shocker too, it gave the scum the initiative,Barca thought the game was won and made a huge mistake taking him off.

Of course they are going to say that.

But do you know what, i couldn't care less. Nothing anyone says can take me off the cloud that I am currently on.

I may not have been at the San Siro, I may have been sat in my lounge all by myself, but with the fans on TV singing there hearts out and me singing along with them, I created my own San Siro, and I was there with them.

We were given no hope of beating them, yes, some are old, but what have we been saying about getting a few players in like that, age is good, experience is needed, a few guys who have been there done this and won everything.

Well thats how you difine that Milan side, guys who have been there done that won everything. That takes alot of beating, especially in there own back yard.

I am still so proud of my team, and whatever a few gypsy fans want to say, that will not stop me being proud.

We have a return leg in front of 35,000 yiddos in 3 weeks time, they have to go to the Camp Nou. I know where i'd rather be playing :)

My initial reaction to the question in the title was that the team we beat is better than the Milan team which Arsenal beat at the San Siro a few years ago. It may well be a bit older but this Milan team is heading towards a Serie A title, and has had the sort of investment pumped in which Milan were crying out for when Arsenal went there and won.

As for any arguments with Arsenal fans, the simple fact (and it is a fact) is that our result on Tuesday has made us favourites to go through, whereas you would still be hard-pushed to find anyone (Gooners excluded) who fancy Arsenal to finish the job at the Nou Camp. In fact, if the opposition were anyone but Barca, everyone would be regarding last night's result as an average one for Arsenal (at best) with the away team grabbing an away goal.

Technically, every team we play is ageing. Unless Milan previously discovered some elixir of life I hadn't heard about.
