FIFA has only gone and done something decent; uploaded the film mentioned earlier in the thread.

I still get goosebumps, thanks to the combination of the close-up footage, Michael Caine’s narration, Rick Wakeman’s score, and Bryon Butler’s commentary (”Maradona, turns like a little eel”).
The production of this is greater than any other football-related movie I’ve ever seen, although my adoration is probably exacerbated by childhood nostalgia.

Being part Danish, this video is the sole reason Michael Laudrup became my first ever international footballing hero.

Please, if you have 90 minutes to kill...

Hero: The Official Film of the 1986 FIFA World Cup
Narrated by Michael Caine
Music by Rick Wakeman

Watching it now with a coffee.

Just watched the full game on BBC iplayer of the 86 World Cup game v England. Im born in 84 so my first real memories of Maradona was USA 94.

I was fascinating watching that full game tbh, the crowd, the pitch was not in great condition, Maradonas ball control is just crazy and he really did get hacked down a number of times.

I would recommend the watch if u have time, also good watching Hoddle and Lineker as well although they both didn't have the best of games.

England only really came to life when Barnes came on late on but it was too little too late.

If that midfield had been Robson, Hoddle, Waddle and Barnes... smh

Out of interest do the All Blacks also have the NZ national anthem played before a game, or is the Haka their equivalent?

No because why should he ? Barca have dominated for the majority of his career , where could he have gone in this time ?

He’s trying to leave now better late than never

Agreed.
What is more: Messi has only ever played for Barcelona. He has never been forced to convince the media, the fans and everybody else in a different league or country.
When Maradona arrived in Napoli most were rather openly hostile to him, especially as he played for an southern club in a society rife with racism (much, much worse than today).

Has Messi ever moved out of his comfort zone in the past 20 years?

Don't know if confirmed but reports Boca Ultras killed the funeral workers that took a pic of Maradona in open coffin, grim
Yup the photos are on Whatsapp etc. Pretty grim. 3 did it, 2 are dead and the 3rd critical apparently

You got any source for that? Can't find anything about them being attacked on any proper news site

It's mostly whatsapp rumors. Some said there's a pic of the dead funeral worker but that's from months back. But the cheering of Boca Ultras on Twitter is disgusting.
