i see that Deloitte have published their latest look at prem wages for 08/9

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/10249101.stm

the normal suspects occupy 1-5

Chelsea - £167m (£172m)
Man Utd - £123m (£121m)
Liverpool - £107m (£90m)
Arsenal - £104m (£101m)
Man City - £83m (£54m)

I can't find ours and wonder if anyone knows them

it was something like 52m i think in 07/8 - wonder how much it has gone up in the last year?

the last full accounts mentions wages have risen - but i can't find out by how much via Mr Google

any help appreciated

thanks for that michael - but that link refers to 07/8 which we already know about

it's last year's I'm interested in - i can't find a link anywhere - jaja's figure seems about right, but I'd like an actual link for the exact figure

it's always useful for when the nonsense about spurs spending comes up

it looks like last year we were the 6th biggest net spenders, yet finished 4th in the lge - so on that basis over-achieved

but it may be better yet - wouldn't amaze me if we were 7th biggest net spenders

if you then also add net spend and wages togther we slip further behind the bigger spenders. So much rubbish about goons or liverpool not spending as much... iof you add wages (which are used to attract and keep players in order to win things) then they've both spent consdierably more that we have in any 5 year period.

We're just a beacon of how football clubs should be run in the PL, stability and ambition rolled into one.

thanks again jaja - that's exactly what i was looking for

and cheers triks

yep - this sort of info is needed when the arguments start with ignorant fans who claim we're the second biggest spenders blah blah so of course we should be CL every year etc etc

jealous west ham fans are amongst the worst for this

as can be seen the latest figures show them with higher wage bill than us

yet they managed to 'overachieve' all the way to 17th on the back of it :)
