It’s a shame there are some blinkered views unable to give paratici any credit for anything he’s done (and still doing) that is positive for the club

several of his signings are seriously good first team players
He’s also hired several key staff in the scouting team, and as a result together have signed some really impressive youth talent too.
I also wonder how fair it is to blame him for failing to shift our deadwood when we have a combination of higher wages that all of Europe, and unreasonably high valuations of said players (DL to blame there). It’s certainly not a new phenomenon isolated to his tenure.
The manager recruitment process is certainly fair criticism, because that was a significant shitshow (but as were told that’s not solely his fault- it’s a collective board failing)

I think the biggest worries are:
1: Can he be involved in our current manager search? Probably not
2: using the Porro transfer as an example, can he be involved in future transfer negotiations? Also no

So, with regret (as Alan would say)- Fabio, you’re fired. You did some good work, but your past caught up with you.

Staggering that the only communication we've had from the club since Conte went has been from a guy now legally unable to do his job. Worse still, the only additional communication will come from Stellini on Friday. Why are the only two people we're hearing from about the future of the club people who will not be involved with it?

I cannot understand how the club can pretend everything's fine. I know the PR team have to put up a front, but it's just embarrassing - learned nothing from putting Mason out to answer questions on the Super League two years ago.

it's all very odd, but again he never signed the cheques and the board all abandoned ship the moment it broke. It looks to me like they felt they had found a loophole or workaround and were trying to be too damn clever, and it's all caught up with them. They'll have known they were being investigated where I would assume they'd have had experts look at it themselves and told them they were in trouble. which is why they were ready to resign the minute it hit the press. None of them tried to defend themselves as they all knew they were fucked.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but isn't Paratici the only one appealing the decision?

The Horncastle article on the Athletic is really good. If you can find and read that then you'll see why he's up to his eyes in it.

We've sacked other DOFs for NOT being dodgy book-cookers so I'm sure we can get rid if we want. It's just Levy fannying around as usual because FP is a nice PR shield for him. During this mini crisis where has Levy been? Hiding from accountability as usual.
Hmmm, I’m not sure it’s a very effective PR shield seeing as it’s Levy who employed him in the first place, despite the potential charges hanging over FP’s head!

I love that this was apparently their response:

Well, everyone is still talking about FP, while Levy skulks about in the background. I'm not necessarily saying it's an effective strategy, but it doesn't take a genius to see the pattern over the last 20 years. Things go wrong? Sack the manager/DOF, hide, dangle some keys, rinse and repeat.

If true, it’s staggering that they don’t already have a nice opinion memo from a fancy firm in hand about options depending on what happened with FP.

Struggling to think of any other company or industry (with even a shred of integrity) in which this guy is still in a job.

The joke of it is that we’re supposedly saying we had no notice of this coming so what was the plan that had been put into place for if the ban was extended across UEFA after the appeal?
Quite clearly nothing which is all the more worrying but then I’m certainly not surprised going on our track record.
I’m so sick and tired of the constant amateur hour with the lot up top. People laugh at Watford’s managerial appointments but at least they have clear objectives and act decisively.
What do we do? Oh who knows as baldie has buggered off on holiday, you just couldn’t make it up!

I'd say I refuse to believe the club weren't anticipating this but nothing surprises me any more.
You mean we don’t have a plan and just react to things as they happen, not like us at all ….
